FBI Counterterror Head to Run New Division

Saturday August 13, 2005 3:31 AM

WASHINGTON (AP) - Gary Bald, the FBI's counterterrorism chief, was named director of the bureau's new National Security Service on Friday, a day after a senator sharply criticized his lack of experience and knowledge about the Mideast and terrorism.

Bald will run a division within the FBI that brings counterintelligence, counterterrorism and intelligence operations under one umbrella. The service was recommended by a presidential commission and adopted by President Bush.

``Gary Bald brings to this new position a wide range of operational and leadership experience, which he has demonstrated over nearly 28 years of service with the FBI,'' said FBI Director Robert Mueller.

His new appointment was jointly made by Mueller and John Negroponte, the director of national intelligence.

1. Grassley panned him! Bald advocates know-nothing leadership
It sorta like a hallmark of this one party government thingy.

He was angered by testimony in a civil lawsuit against the bureau in which Bald said it is not necessary to have detailed understanding of counterterrorism operations to provide leadership in that area. His deposition was among hundreds of pages of testimony in a suit by an Arab-American FBI agent that were obtained by The Associated Press

2. Seems logical
from the twisted mind of the Cheney cult. No brow beating necessary, no disagreements possible with the fuhrer(s) when you are completely ignorant.

Sounds like the perfect sycophant

3. Mueller and John Negoponte

Are they sharing power? Mueller is the loser here.

This is a byzantine maneuver by criminal neo-cons to create and take control of a national police apparatus. A study of similar moves during the consolidation of the Third Reich reveals similar phenomena.
