Governor didn't report $250,000 contribution
Critics say silence may have violated state ethics laws
Carla Marinucci, John Wildermuth, Chronicle Political Writers

Saturday, August 13, 2005

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has failed to report that American Media Inc. -- publisher of the National Enquirer and top body-building magazines - - gave $250,000 this year to one of his pet charities in a move critics charge may be a violation of state ethics law.

The hefty donation to the nonprofit California Governor's Council on Physical Fitness came to light Friday after American Media filed new documents with the Securities and Exchange Commission describing the end of its business relationship with the governor.

The tabloid publisher's charitable contribution to the fitness group was required by its 2003 contract with Schwarzenegger in which he was named executive editor of American Media's Muscle & Fitness and Flex magazines.
(snip)

Critics charge that the failure to file may violate section 82015 of the California government code, which requires elected officials to file reports detailing any donation over $5,000 made at their behest or solicited by an agent on their behalf. Those reports must be filed within 30 days of the donation, the law says.

3. It was only a quarter of million!
Why, such a paltry sum could easily slip one's mind, it's not like we're talking real money!

:sarcasm:

Arnold has never been ethical, imo. It's embarrassing that he is my governor.

Edit: too early, can't spell, need more coffee

4. He talks energy conservation
Yet was in on a meeting with Lay, Dyenergy, Williams, and others that were scamming Western electricty consumers.

Arnold is a dirty bird, a shill, and a liar.

I don't think his initiatives will pass, and I don't think he will run for Gov. again. If he does, he will lose.

The sexual harrassment trial in England filed, will be during his campaign , if he decides to run again.

10. On Oprah Yesterday
Maria talked about how the Gropenfuhrer would collect their childrens clothes, toys, etc if they left them out and throw them away.

I thought for a moment Oprah was hosting a show on abusive spouses.

I would love to be a fly on that wall.

13. why recall him when his ratings are i the 30's?
At this point, I'd prefer to watch him stumble along, one crisis after another...

And, of course, I'm looking forward to him "deciding" not to run again.
