Bush moves mass of troops from Germany to Romania, build huge base.

Mods: I haven't seen this on the board yet. it's from last nights INN news report. If it's already been posted feel free to move it.

http://innworldreport.net/

George W. Bush will move most US troops stationed in Germany to Romania and build the largest US military base outside of the mainland US. Purpose reported to be to take over the Romanian oil fields and threaten Russia if it interferes with US plans to invade or bomb Iran. Speculation is that if Europe goes along with this Russia, which supplies most of Europe's natural gas thru one pipeline, will cut off the gas to Europe, causing many of it's population to freeze this winter.

--END--

So Bush is putting europe in the untenable position of standing up to his evil plans or freezing this winter.

I have reached the undeniable conclusion that this fool is actually trying to start World War III. And I think he will succeed unless something or someone stops him.

1. I think it's just a cheaper piece of real estate closer to the ME
central asian states.

Nor do I think Russia is going to stop selling natural gas. It needs the money.

14. Well, I think Russia would defend herself.
I also think that if they didn't believe they could defend themselves alone, China would come and help them out.

I simply can't believe that we can move the troops into Romania that quickly. Anybody know for sure?

Soldiers return from largest exercise in Romania

August 9, 2005

BABADAG TRAINING AREA, Romania (Army News Service, Aug. 9, 2005) – ROMEX 05 officially ended with a ceremony Aug. 2, completing the largest bi-lateral training exercise in Romania since the end of World War II.

U.S. and Romanian troops trained in various tactical scenarios, including military operations in urban terrain or MOUT, convoy live fire, convoy force on force, and small arms marksmanship.

<snip>
As part of their force protection duties, the Army Reserve units were tasked to provide security for the logistical support area where service members involved in the exercise were located, the local training areas where the American and Romanian Soldiers were training together, and the escort of various convoys that were traveling to and from the Babadag Training Area.

The Army Reserve Soldiers also performed morning and night patrols with the Romanian military police, covering an area of about 100 kilometers wide by 300 kilometers deep and stretching out to the coast of the Black Sea.

15. This post is rank speculation resulting in unbelievable scenario!
Unwritten Rule One for DU: engage brain cells before posting!

First of all, your link does not connect to any such story. If you can be more precise in the link, I"ll be glad to read your source. The link does connect to a short list of other stories, and then a series of dates for general video news. However your post purports to quote written text.

Secondly, from what you do quote, there are no sources alluded to by InWorldReport, and in fact the quote describes itself as speculation. Maybe they can't reveal the name of a source, but one does expect some reference like "a highly placed military source" or a German, Russian, American or Rumanian govt. source. And look at the vague language. Would any credible reporter claim that Russia supplies "most of" Europe's natural gas through "a single pipeline", without detailing how much gas that is, either in measurable amounts, or as a percentage? How long is this pipeline which would be shut down? How much profit (calculated in dollars/Euros/rubles/whatever) would impoverished Russia lose by this action? What you give us are the kind of wild, exaggerated, undocumented, unspecific claims that we typically go to Snopes to debunk.

I mean, THINK about this. Your story means cash strapped Russia, on the basis of sheer speculation of what the US will do, Iran will do,, Europe will do AND what Rumania will do - a cumulative tsumani wave of speculation - Russia will default on very lucrative contracts with many countries in Europe and close down its pipeline to Europe. Now how on earth can Russia avoid losing the sale of millions of dollars worth of natural gas? Every responsible country/utility has already locked in its supply for the coming winter. Russia would have to build a very expensive and lengthy new pipeline to deliver its product elsewhere - I won't even bother to look up what countries it would have to cross and how delicate and expensive those negotiations would be. And I doubt any customer would even contract with Russia until the supply line was in place. The more I analyze these speculations, the more ridiculous they are.

Next,, it's mid August.. Even contracting all the work to Halliburton without taking time to get bids, it seems undoable to build such a hugh military base and relocate troops there by this winter in order to carry out the speculated threat to Russia.

If at some point in time, the base is built, yada,yada,yada.. . .
and the US threatens Russia, why would Russia hold Europe accountable for Bush's actions? Why would Russia throw away millions in revenues? The whole world knows what contempt the Europeans have for Bush. Why would European countries piss off Russia just to wave the flag for bush?

Bush has threatened for a long time to move US troops out of Germany, and he may well move them to Rumania. Maybe he's already secretly building a base there. But let's get some credible source on that story.

26. For about two years now . . .
. . . U.S. European Command has decided to draw down the forces in Germany to a force of, I believe, four brigades.

Romania and Bulgaria have been courted since to establish basing rights. It looks like Bulgaria will end up hosting a rotating contingent equal to one brigade. Romania's ports are now regular ports of call for the USN.

The bulk of army troops in Germany are earmarked to return to bases in the U.S. The redistribution of troops will likely make it easier for the military to send replacements or entire new units to Iraq.

None of this, however, has been closely held. The deployment plans are regularly commented upon by the Stars and Stripes newspaper, and so far, the troop movement actions have corresponded with what was made public.

What is kind of interesting is that initially there were plans to base in Poland as well, and those suddenly fell through about a year ago.

30. Just click on the picture marked Fri. August 12. It's a newscast vidio.

As the camera symbol would lead one to believe.

And it was not a quote, but my paraphrasing of the story read by the newsreader. If you watch the video you will see that it is speculation, and was stated as such.

And it's not MY story. This is the latest news forum and I am just posting it for the edification of the members. You may believe it or not. That's entirely up to you.

You do present some interesting questions. The question that comes to my mind is: Who would have believed that the president of the United States of America would have directed that his staff make up completely fabricated stories and expect the citizens to believe them. And then use these lies to convince congress to give him permission to invade an independant sovereign nation (which they did not). And then he inveded anyway. If all that is true, and it is, how can anyone deny that this administration would refrain from doing anything that would further their lust for oil, a product the use of which may result in the end of the society the have taken control of.

And it's INNWorldReport. Stands for Independant News Network.
