Normal Life Over for Protesting Mother
Normal Life Over for Protesting Mother

Saturday August 13, 2005 10:16 PM

By MARTHA MENDOZA

AP National Writer

VACAVILLE, Calif. (AP) - Before her son was killed in Iraq, before she began a peace vigil outside President Bush's Texas ranch, before she became an icon of the anti-war movement and the face of grieving mothers, there was a time when Cindy Sheehan's life was, by all appearances, incredibly normal.

She grew up in a suburb of Los Angeles, and married her high school sweetheart, Patrick Sheehan. They had four babies, one almost every other year. They drove their growing clan in a huge, yellow station wagon nicknamed the ``BananaMobile.'' She volunteered at a Vacaville church and later, as the children grew, she worked there.

Normal life ended for Cindy Sheehan in April 2004, when her oldest son Casey, 24, a father of twin girls, was killed in Iraq.

First, she says, ``I was a Mom in deep shock and deep grief.''

2. great to see this story
However, they're wrong about how Casey was the father of twin girls, I believe.

4. I don't think Casey was married or had any children either.

Looks like they screwed up on that.
Casey wanted to get married and have children, but he never got that chance. He also wanted to be a deacon.

6. Yes, I thought I heard his Mom say on TV
the other day that he was a virgin. I thought it was kind of a mistake for her to say that on tv, but in my book she's allowed to make a few.

7. cindy sheehan said that her son died a virgin because he believed in doing
the right thing--and while some of the guys would taunt him to go and have sex with a girl, he'd always say no, not until he was married.

3. Perhaps she should run for public office?
It brings to my mind, Rep. Carolyn McCarthy who lost her husband and her son severely wounded by Colin Ferguson. She become an advocate for gun control, but expanded that to become a very good Rep. and was elected to a second term.

Maybe Cindy can do the same and use her experience to promote her cause too; fighting the neocons.

Isn't that the place where all the communists come from?

Have you heard of Communists Of the World?

Vacaville means COW village, in spanish.

Oh, this is sarcastic, by the way.
