US reports death of Zarqawi aide as senators demand Rumsfeld's head

WASHINGTON (AFP) - A top aide to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, head of the Al-Qaeda operation in Iraq and accused of masterminding high-profile suicide bombings in the country, has been killed by Iraqi security forces, defense officials have confirmed.

A top aide to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, head of the Al-Qaeda operation in Iraq and accused of masterminding high-profile suicide bombings in the country, has been killed by Iraqi security forces, defense officials have confirmed.

Abu Zubair, also known as Mohammed Salah Sultan, was gunned down in the northern city of Mosul Friday, when he got caught in an ambush set up by Iraqi security forces, the officials said, confirming a report by Mosul police.

"I think Rumsfeld should get his notice on Monday morning," Biden said as he appeared on NBC's "Meet the Press" program.

Republican Senator John McCain, a possible presidential candidate in 2008, echoed the view, adding, "I don't have confidence" in Rumsfeld.

13. How is it possible for them to give a percentage of arrested or killed...
when they have no idea of the base figure? I swear, I have often heard it on CNN.

18. You're not still stuck on those old reality-based
numbers, are ya?

Get with it! This is the * era - need good employment numbers? Make 'em up! Need a percentage killed of al-Q? Make 'em up! Much easier and way more satisfying than actually finding out anything!

right?

16. They're sorta like bank VPs...
> And just in time they find another #3!

Every local branch of your bank has a Vice President running it. They
have no actual authority (that's for the "Executive VPs") but it makes
the customers feel better when they demand to talk to someone in charge:

"Here, let me introduce you to the Vice President. *She* can help you."

20. Did we find the Al-Queda org chart?
Is that how we know he's #3? Did we capture the Al-Queda personnel director to confirm this? And does Al-Queda have an HMO?

6. F*ck McCain
McCain was particularly incensed by recent statements by General George Casey, the top US military commander in Iraq, and other Pentagon officials that substantial withdrawals from Iraq could begin as early as next year.

"Look, I've got an idea for our Pentagon planners," the Arizona senator opined testily on the Fox News Sunday show. "The day that I can land at the airport in Baghdad and ride in an unarmed car down the highway to the 'green zone' is the day that I'll start considering withdrawals from Iraq."

In other words, when Hell freezes over.

11. Well I think it's time to allow those who believe
we need to stay the course to do exactly that. McCain and ANY other congress person along with the entire cabinet and those who are for the war should be have their happy asses immediately sent to Iraq so that they may fulfill all of their desires.

We would probably never see them again. sigh...

It is obvious that it is not clear what we do know is not unimportant to all that has yet to be uncovered in those areas remaining not off limits to the area of discussions with and without proper dissemination of authorized press releases regarding the maltreatment of war prisoners, I mean detainess, or is it prisoners,in Cuba."

There can only be a few of those.

I am so proud of the Iraqi Army. Catching all these #3 guys is a clear sign of success.

Anyone else notice how that #3 AQ guy captured near Pakistan dropped off the radar screen?
So much for putting a dagger into AQ's operations in Afghanistan.

29. I'm going to ignore the Top Ten Chart
and focus on RumsFailed. So senators are demanding his head? Why? Because the war in Iraq is going badly?

I've been reading a steady stream of complaints against this man, which has escalated recently. Most intense was about 1 year ago, with the Abu Ghraib prison scandal.

RumsFool said then, "I've submitted my resignation to the president, but he wouldn't accept it".

Recently, Rum was in a congressional hearing. Ted Kenney asked, "Has the security situation in Iraq improved? Rum: No, I can't say that it has". Kennedy: "Isn't it about time you handed in your resignation?" Fool: "I've submitted my resignation twice, but they won't accept it".

Who's kidding who here? They need to forget about RumsFathead and start looking a little higher, like maybe Pres. Cheney and Bush. I sense an unbelievable disconnect between these people. They must not be talking to each other, because the stories are always different. They're like a bunch of chickens running around.

be around much longer. He's the next to go, they will install an ever weirder further right bastard. Kristol was even calling for his head, so it is clear that Israel has lost faith in him, and that's the last straw.
