3. Wonder why this took so long to make the News (it happened at 2a.m.)
Edited on Thu Aug-18-05 12:19 PM by Up2Late
Usually the Local "news" would be all over this.

Instead, we have a "Live" State Sanctioned Prayer Vigil (Suggested by our stupid RW-Funi Governor) on the Local FOX Channel.

9. Zell lives in North Georgia in Young Harris. Lumpkin Co. is SW of Atlanta

near the Alabama border. From the article: "...Lumpkin, a town of about 1,300 people near the Alabama border and 115 miles southwest of Atlanta."

16. CB!!! Lumpkin (the town) is SW of Atlanta
in Stewart Co., but Lumpkin County is in north Georgia - Dahlonega is its county seat.

Just my little pedantic schoolmarm self butting in here...

How's your big baby getting on? I just bought a couple shares in a racehorse and am looking forward to some excitement when the jumps season starts next month.

17. GA place names are SO confusing! I did know where Lumpkin Co. is.
Edited on Thu Aug-18-05 05:50 PM by CottonBear
By mistake, I typed Lumpkin Co. instead of jsut Lumpkin. Thanks for pointing that out Ms. School Marm! For example, the City of Madison is not located in Madison County but the City of Elberton is located in Elbert County! :eyes:

Cotton is growing big and strong. She is now 15.1 hands and is 2 years and 3 months old! She got a bath last Saturday and looked quite spiffy when she was done. She likes to drink out of the hose sprayer! I have a terrible cold and haven't seen her since Saturday having been banned from the farm by the owners who do not wish to become ill! I hope to see her again on Saturday! I miss her.

How exciting that you now own (part) of a racehorse! Do you belong to a racehorse syndicate Does the horse race in steeplechases? Keep us updated! I hope you can win, place or show! Good luck!

:hi: from Athens, GA

Magic (Holsteiner on left) & Cotton (Oldenburg on right) enjoy their evening hay!

6. The police chief in a nearby town also was wounded...
"Dalton was on parole at the time of the shootings and had an extensive criminal record, including arrests for making terroristic threats, aggravated assault and distribution of marijuana. "He's made it known he wanted to be a gangster," Keenan said."
And he could have strolled into any gun show in the state and bought a gun without one of those pesky background checks, thanks to the Republican party and the gun lobby.

12. Why?
Do you mean that if this particular loony did not get his particular gun there, gun shows ought to go on arming crazies and criminals without background checks?

15. No, I just want to know where he got the gun?
Did he steal it, did he buy it, did he take it off a police officer?

14. We will probably never know, I am sure the GOP and NRA will
keep that info supressed. No matter where it came from, they will focus on the blood and gore, not the gun!

and if it turns out he got hold of it because the gun industry acted irresponsibly (as usual), isn't it nice to know that now they can't be sued by the victims?

18. Wouldn't ya think all cops would be extra careful after the shooting
in the Atlanta Courthouse??? I live in Ga, and I'm ashamed that our police can't seem to learn anything from experience.

The article wasn't real specific about what exactly happened, but small town or not, this was carelessness!!!

21. Not many towns smaller than mine in the south and ...
you have to go to the county seat for a trial. They use the Tee Vee, no way our courthouse would let anybody in. We have more bullet proof glass than NYC.
