Statements on London police shooting of Brazilian

LONDON (Reuters) - A delegation of Brazilian officials will visit Britain on Monday to question the commission investigating the fatal police shooting of electrician Jean Charles de Menezes.

London's police force has come under heavy pressure over the July 22 killing of Brazilian de Menezes after leaked documents cast doubt on police reports explaining how officers mistook him for a suicide bomber and shot him eight times.

Two Brazilian government officials plan to meet members of the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) this week to discuss the investigation.

"The most recent news, accompanied by shocking images, has deepened the Brazilian government's anger," the country's foreign ministry said in a statement released last week.

The first police reports said de Menezes was dressed suspiciously and had failed to stop when challenged by officers a day after four attacks on London's transport system failed when the bombs did not explode.

Two weeks earlier four suicide bombers killed 52 commuters.

But documents and images obtained by ITV television cast doubt on the police version of events, showing the 27-year-old walking calmly through the underground station before boarding the train where he was shot in the head.

Police shooting - the discrepancies
Leaked documents from the independent investigation into the shooting of a man whom police mistook for one of the London Tube bombers, suggest key differences between the original police and witness version of events and subsequent reports.

6. Just "the law" should be sufficient.
Unjustified killings by the police are generally frowned upon.

But--were all law enforcement involved just members of the police? And did British government policy contribute to the event?
