Bush: Iraq's Sunnis face choice on constitution
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20050823/pl_nm/iraq_bush_dc

Note photo. Stupid face #49.

Bush added, "Anyway I'm optimistic about what's taking place."

Being delusional is an awful thing.

3. I see this one rated down
Rightly so. This guy has no clue what he's talking about and what he says has little relevance any more.

4. That picture reminds me of an old SNL skit
"I am Hans"
"and I am Franz"
"And we are here to pump <clap> you up!"

5. "Do they want to live in a society that's free, or ... live in violence?"
And just how is signing a piece of paper going to stop the violence?

6. He sounds like some kind of slimly HR flak
who is telling people that their medical benefits are being cut and "they have a choice to make" on what to next.

Meantime attacks on anything that moves in Iraq seem to be on the upswing Yes?.

7. No one believes what he says anymore.
Not his base. Not the media. He doesn't believe it anymore either.

9. Whether to lose everything by accepting the constitution ...
or to keep up an effctive insurgency. Hoo, boy, that's a hard one to call! ;-)

Sure, the Sunnis have lorded it over the Kurds and Shia for centuries. But to expect them to accept their region, with little access to oil revenues, is sheer idiocy.

And how long will it be before the various Shia militias start battling each other over control of the South, and of the oil? Or will Iran be able to keep them in line?

At least the Kurds will get some autonomy, and a lot of oil -- under an arrangement that Turkey may accept, at least originally.
