African Christian body condemns U.S. evangelist

NAIROBI, Aug 24 (Reuters) - A group representing millions of African Christians lambasted U.S. evangelist Pat Robertson on Wednesday for inflammatory remarks encouraging the assassination of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.

"No matter how he tries to justify it, Robertson's public demand that the United States kill Chavez is simply a tragic betrayal of the Gospel," said Mvume Dandala, general secretary of the Nairobi-based All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC).

"Robertson has made the mistake of believing that a brand of right-wing extremism is equivalent to the Gospel."

Robertson, founder of the conservative Christian Coalition and a presidential candidate in 1988, said this week Chavez was a "terrific danger" to the United States and aimed to be "the launching pad for communist infiltration and Muslim extremism."

1. It looks like Robertson has had his Jimmy Swaggart moment.

2. Maybe
But Swaggart is back on TV spewing his BS message based on his personal intepretation of the Bible.

I would prefer that hypocrites like him and Robertson be showed the door, yes forgive them for the sins that they commit, but never again allow them the ability to influence people, sort of like what was done with Jim Baker.

3. Hopefully, but he should be neutralized as much as possible.
"700 Club" and "CBN" and "Pat Robertson" should be held up as objects of scorn and ridicule. We need to whip up an anti-"televangelist" wind, and quickly. Already the tide is against the religious extremists.

6. I really wish Michael Moore would do a documentary showing
what televangelists are really all about - money & power. If these people are truly "men of God" then God must be one mean m____f__ker.
