Venezuela demands action over kill quip
http://www.taipeitimes.com/News/world/archives/2005/08/25/2003269096

AP , CARACAS, VENEZUELA
Thursday, Aug 25, 2005,Page 7

Venezuela condemned US religious broadcaster Pat Robertson for suggesting Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez should be killed, saying he committed a crime that is punishable in the US. snip

"There is a legal measure in the United States that condemns and punishes statements of this nature," Rangel said, referring to laws dealing with television broadcasts.

He said the US response to Robertson's suggestion on Monday that the US should assassinate Chavez would be a test of its anti-terrorism policy.

"What is the US government going to do regarding this criminal statement? The ball is in the US' court," Rangel said.

1. What will the US government do?
Not a frickin' thing, unless a Democrat or liberal says something similar.

3. Exactly
If a Democrat had said something like this about a Shrub administration official, they would be in jail for life and destroyed by the powers that be.

2. What Laws?
Someone better tell these Venezuelans how things are run here in the USA. There is no legal measure for the media or the powers that be, ESPECIALLY when it runs counter to the wants and needs of the Shrub administration. And our anti-terrorism policy? What anti-terrorism policy? That doesn't apply to nice wonderful Christians like robertson. Only to angry muslims.

12. the reporter or editor knows exactly what quip means AND that this isn't a
quip

talk about spin. These 'editors' really think they have not just the right but the duty to control and shape opinion. Permenently depriving them of that ability (which is all it is) is job NUMBER FUCKING ONE.

Somehow every major news-outlet in the nation all decide to soft-pedel this and distort the sick nature of Pat's speach? I can't believe that is a co-incidence. That is a totally planned-incidence.

8. If Robertson EXPLICITLY broke laws, he should be PROSECUTED
This statement by Pat Robertson, along with his recent televised prayer that ‘there be more vacancies on the Supreme Court' (whose justices serve lifetime appointments), unquestionably meet the criteria for the official definition of terrorism:

Terrorism is: “The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence against people or property to coerce or intimidate governments or societies, often to achieve political, religious, or ideological objectives.” (JCS Pub 1-02)

The U.S. will not tolerate terrorist threats of this nature from Radical Clerics like Pat Robertson. Our nation is currently engaged in a Global Struggle against Extremism, and that struggle is against ALL Fundamentalist Extremists including those like Robertson who make public suggestions of violence against world leaders or petition the Deity to smite U.S. Supreme Court Justices.

Robertson’s actions are extremely serious, and should not by any means be taken lightly by the U.S. Government or by the American People.

13. If Shrub Had Been Threatened....
If someone from another country had threated Shrub this way, the administration would have come down so hard on them, and demanded justice. No way they would have let it past. Probably would have sent someone to take care of them personally if necessary....i.e. swim with the fishies.

14. just one thing...
this definition: "The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence against people or property to coerce or intimidate governments or societies, often to achieve political, religious, or ideological objectives."

Doesn't this sum up nearly the totality of bushco's foreign AND domestic policy? Isn't bush clearly a terrorist mastermind?

Some brave DC cop ought to just go arrest him one day.
