Specter to question drug agents who sued Fisher
Sen. Arlen Specter will meet with two state narcotics agents on Tuesday in Washington, D.C., to discuss Pennsylvania Attorney General Mike Fisher's federal judicial nomination.

The agents, John McLaughlin and Charles Micewski, won a $1.5 million civil suit against Fisher and other members of his office in February after a jury trial in Wilkes-Barre.

They said Fisher and his deputies retaliated against them after they complained that federal authorities allowed a CIA-backed drug dealer to get away.

After they complained, federal and state authorities stopped prosecuting their cases and began investigating the agents for alleged misconduct. The agents were cleared of any wrongdoing.<snip>

1. Let's see how Anal Spectrum will spin this one!
He's obviously worried this will hurt him in his re-election campaign.

Anal Spectrum... but don't you think "Anal Speculum" might be a bit more "fitting"? (no pun intended, of course).

2. What a shameful nomination

<snip>
"The decision by Senate Republican leaders to move this nomination despite a serious outstanding issue is perhaps the strongest indication yet that they consider themselves the president's rubber stamp on judicial nominations," said Nan Aron, president of the Alliance for Justice. Aside from the likelihood that Fisher's confirmation would put him on the very court reviewing the judgment against him, Aron said, even more disturbing is the prospect that a nominee with a substantial finding of liability would be rewarded with a lifetime appointment to a powerful and prestigious seat on the federal appellate bench.
</snip>

I am very glad Specter is taking it seriously, because it wouldn't matter if a Dem tried to look into this. This guy Fisher should be an embarrassment to the Repugs.
