Bush declares disasters in Louisiana, Mississippi

EL MIRAGE, Ariz., Aug 29 (Reuters) - President George W. Bush on Monday approved major disaster declarations for the states of Louisiana and Mississippi, clearing the way for the use of federal money to help respond to Hurricane Katrina, the White House said.

White House spokesman Scott McClellan said Bush approved the major disaster declarations aboard Air Force One en route to Arizona.

"This will allow federal funds to start being used to deploy resources to help in those two states," McClellan said. He said the money would be used for "response and recovery" efforts.

7. Can a walking, talking disaster declare disaster or just keep causing
more devastation in his own wake? It's impossible to take anything he says or does seriously - he is the irrelevant prez. Are his FEMA appointees up to the task of facing Katrina's aftermath?

12. I agree with the posters who name Bush as the disaster around here.
What hurricane has destroyed the lives of as many people as Bush has?

It's hard work making this planet a living hell for so many people. What a noble leader.
