Bush says Americans praying for those in Katrina's path; says Feds ready with aid

(El Mirage, Ariz.-AP) August 29, 2005 - President Bush says Americans are praying for residents of the Gulf Coast being "hit and hit hard" by Hurricane Katrina.

He's urging those in the path of the storm to pay close attention to what authorities tell them, and he's promising the federal government will be ready with help once the storm passes.

Bush spoke during a Medicare roundtable near Phoenix, the first of two he's holding Monday in Arizona and California.

To Gulf Coast residents, Bush said, "Take precautions, because this is a dangerous storm."

1. "take precautions?"
Did his handlers give him the memo that it's already made landfall?

14. Ooops, he forgot to mention duct tape
No telling how many lives could have been spared had Bush only remembered to mention duct tape. Homeland Security and all that, you know.

I'd say more about the stuff but I'd be violating a double super-secret government embargo placed on "comments" about duct tape. Can't be too careful, you know. Terra-rists everywhere.

7. No doubt
and no wonder there are so many hurricanes during his regime. This is just the tip of the iceberg with his steadfast and dumb response to global warming.

8. The prediction is something like 28 hurricanes this season, correct?
They'd better get the Super Dome fixed, ASAP.

10. Here they go with the "praying" message.
I have nothing against people praying, but we will hear this phrase a lot. Governments that don't want to actually do anything for people will gladly pray for them.

11. What's up with the praying?
Since a hurricane is obviously an "act of God."

As one of my favorite old sayings goes: "Religion is the only business in the world where the customer always blames himself for product failure."

16. "God saved us"
And of course, we're already starting to hear the usual, "God was watching out for us" from the survivors.

I guess God decided the others were expendable.

17. in an ownership society, you only get prayers
not actual help during the emergency...AND your emergency equipment and national guard gets taken away for an illegal and immoral war. :grr:
