Via WDSU TV: Bush to return to DC
Edited on Tue Aug-30-05 12:00 PM by MADem
The newsreader on WDSU, which is doing round the clock NO hurricane coverage, just announced that chimp is cutting his vacation short, leaving San Diego, and returning to DC. His decision, apparently, was taken as a consequence of the devastation in NOLA.

No link, was a TV broadcast, will find one and post it asap.

Edit, link: http://www.wwltv.com/local/stories/WWLBLOG.ac3fcea.html

11:21 A.M. (AP) - The White House says President Bush is cutting short his vacation to return to Washington to monitor the hurricane recovery efforts.

places to make speeches, no, he DOESN'T get it. He's got plenty of time for his own damned, blasted PR campaigns, but precious little when it comes to caring for the other guy. Gee, that's mighty big of him, 'eh? Throw a crumb to the peons. Compassionate conservatism my ass. Did you see how they billed Will Pitt's article in Truthout - talking about the guy who takes more vacation time than a French aristocrat?

William Rivers Pitt | Here's the Funny Part
http://www.truthout.org/docs_2005/083005I.shtml
George W. Bush coughed up his latest rationale for continuing the Iraq war - I think this is the fourth or fifth one of these to this point - by saying that because so many American soldiers have been killed, we have to keep sending American soldiers to get killed as a means of honoring the American soldiers who have been killed. William Rivers Pitt says this is big talk from a guy who spends more time on vacation than a French aristocrat.

Perhaps the First Dog-Dropper is waiting til tomorrow so his faithful can find him a donkey to ride in on, and lots of palm fronds to wave in the air as they shout their "hosannas."

DISGRACEFUL.

7. Not yet, it goes by on the TV crawl, and they are talking about it now
The federal gov't aid angle, is what I mean by 'it.'

I'm still searching for a print link, but I thought that the chimp cutting his vacation by more than half a week merited the announcement without one!

23. Reuter says 2 days earlier
SAN DIEGO (Reuters) - President George W. Bush, on a month-long vacation at his Texas ranch, will return to Washington on Wednesday, two days earlier than planned, to help oversee recovery efforts from Hurricane Katrina, the White House said.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20050830/pl_nm/weather_katrina_bush_dc

What a great sacrifice for his nation.:sarcasm:

He should fly to Crawford, meet with Cindy...then do a helo tour of the states effected by the Hurricane. But he'll just go the the WH and watch it all on his big screen tv. Wonder how many pretzels he'll throw down this week.

Now there's a change of direction.

When he went to the Bush Estate, WH spinners were telling us that he can do the same things in Crawford as in Washington because it is fully equipped! Now it isn't?

He is running away from Cindy without appearing to do so, and

He is "appearing concerned."

It's all bullshit, his stock in trade!

at Cindy as he flies back to DC. He probably couldn't get out of Crawford fast enough and thinks Katrina is a gift from God to him. Let's him show his leeeaaaadership all over again. (Bush laugh: heh heh heh)

27. like 9/11, they wil focus on managing the images.
After 9/11 in NYC, 'authorities' went to amazing lengths to manage the images. Fences 20 feet high covered with tarps were erected on all streets so that no-one could see ground zero. Lots of police and army (?guard?) prevented anyone from even getting south of 14th Street for weeks. Media images never really documented the horrifying extent of the devastation. Only a few (vetted?) images were shown of the actual wreckage.

My guess is bushit is wandering back to DC to attend meetings focused on managing the images, as well as setting up blockades to prevent access. Sounds cynical, but comes from experience.

Maybe one of these days Americans will begin to demand actual performance from their institutions, instead of image management.

31. Fill me in, this wasn't deemed newsworthy hours ago?
Sorry for the change of subject but I am confused.

I put this out hours ago and the moderator decided it didn't belong as a breaking news item and it was moved to discussion. Why is it now a breaking news story?

(I read the rules for posting breaking news and I don't think I violated them. It was a TV news report of "this just in" on MSNBC)
