Bush says will take years to recover from Katrina

WASHINGTON, Aug 31 (Reuters) - President George W. Bush said on Wednesday that it will take years for Gulf Coast states to fully recover from the catastrophic losses caused by Hurricane Katrina.

"This recovery will take a long time. This recovery will take years," Bush said after returning to the White House from his Texas vacation to oversee the recovery efforts.

I say it will take years to recover from Bush!

5. He told the truth, though.
It will take years. No way to spin this positively. I just hope that all of America finally begins to wake up from this decades-long slumber we've been in since the post World War II era. We have to comepletely reengineer our way of life to adjust to the post-industrial era.

15. Yeah, but bush doesn't
know from shit..he's just out there reading a script. Any idiot knows it will take years to recover from Katrina.

I was in a Cat 5 hurricane in '92 and it took about 5 years to recover and we weren't submerged under water.

6. he asked americans to 'send money'
but i didn't hear any mention of money from the government. and that had to be one of the worst, rambling, disjointed, stumbling statements i've yet seen from him. clearly someone wrote that thing in a real hurry.

12. Send $$$ direct to Haliburton; do not pass Salvation Army
You KNOW that in their safe Inner Beltway offices, Karl & Dick are plotting out huge no-bid construction contracts for Halliburton, et al. Because these monsters never met a disaster they couldn't turn to their own huge profits.

18. Gosh. I just think back to 2000...
... when we were all worried about Bush and Ashcroft. Then he somehow got "elected" and we all thought he was a joke. A one-term asterisk in the record books. Then whatchamacallit happened, then Iraq, and the economy got worse and worse, and energy prices climbed, and the Patriot Act was visited on us, and No Child Left Beind, now this (on top of countless other tangential tragedies) and I think

HOLY SHIT

it's even worse than we thought back then!!!

Say it ain't so

oh, and cutting cake, and strumming a guitar... :sarcasm:

now i truly know the meaning of the term "good-for-nothing," he's a person wholly devoid of any positive attribute.
