Al Gore Paid For Refugees' Flight To Chattanooga (2nd NOLA flight by Gore)
http://www.chattanoogan.com/articles/article_72002.asp

The refugees who were flown from New Orleans to Chattanooga on Sunday had a well-known person along.

Former Vice President Al Gore and his son were on the chartered flight.

"I understand that Vice President Gore paid for everything," Todd Womack of the mayor's office said.

(snip)

(Sheriff John Cupp) said, "(Gore) was not visiting with the media. He was busy working to help the refugees."

19. Yep. Tens of thousands here
and in Iraq.
Not having to run for office helps us see the real Al Gore - not the one Rove wanted us to see. Like Carter - the man has heart, the man has character, the man has leadership.

12. It makes me sick
I truly feel sick to my stomach when I think of how this great man was robbed of being president. So many people would be alive, so many people would be better off, the environment would be better off..... if only he were allowed to do what the majority of people wanted him to do: be our president.

14. Does anyone else remember
how Gore was ridiculed for saying in the 2000 debates that he'd been to Texas with FEMA after a hurricane? Gore would have not been eating cake during this storm!

22. Gore's family doesn't have old money - - his grandparents were poor
Edited on Tue Sep-06-05 06:28 PM by AlGore-08.com
His parents clawed their way up to the middle class during the Great Depression. His dad started out as a school teacher, then ran for elected office, eventually becoming a Congressman then a Senator.

His mom worked as a waitress until she earned her degree. She was one of the first women to receive a law degree from Vanderbilt University.

Gore's family didn't become wealthy until after Al Gore Sr. left politics in 1972 - - and Al Gore was an adult. When Gore Sr. was in office, they could only afford to stay in a "family hotel" (read apartment) in D.C., run by a cousin. Gore and his sister shared a room until she went to college. The family had to occasionally evacuate in favor of paying guests.

During the summers, Gore's father made him do strenuous manual labor on their farm, in order to learn the value of work. When Gore Sr. was traveling the state campaigning, he would sometimes leave Al Gore with neighbors whose farm did not have running water or indoor plumbing.

The first home Al and Tipper had was base housing at Fort Drucker: a mobile home.

Haven from fury Mercy Flight Brings Evacuees to ET

Gore accompanies about 140 arrivals from New Orleans but declines to take credit

By ROBERT WILSON

(snip)

About 140 people - mostly elderly and infirm - arrived Saturday at McGhee Tyson Airport on a chartered mercy flight from hurricane-ravaged New Orleans, welcomed to East Tennessee by a bright sun and a host of medical professionals straining at the reins to help their fellow human beings without regard to whether they were on the clock.

The displaced hurricane victims came to Tennessee on a hastily arranged flight, accompanied by doctors and carrying whatever they had in boxes, bags or, in one case, an old suitcase tied up with rope.

Former Vice President Al Gore arranged the flight and was on board, but he declined to take credit for the airlift, fearing it would be "politicized."

(snip)

Gore chose not to speak to the assembled media, but he was seen in a black T-shirt and jeans moving rapidly from one side of the plane to the other assisting with the off-loading operation.
