Iraqi Leader: Saddam Confessed to Crimes
Iraq's president said Tuesday that Saddam Hussein had confessed to "crimes" including killings committed during his regime.

President Jalal Talabani told Iraqi television that he had been informed by an investigating judge that "he was able to extract confessions from Saddam's mouth" about crimes "such as executions" which the ousted leader had personally ordered.

Talabani said that some of the confessions involved cases actively under investigation but he did not specify them. The ousted leader faces his first trial Oct. 19 for his alleged role in the massacre of Shiites in Dujail, a town north of Baghdad in 1982.

2. How very convenient, timing wise...
Wonder what else the 'investigating judge' extracted from Hussein's mouth while he was at it?

11. CNN.COM is probably flipping out right now.
They would have loved to put Saddam's picture on their front page with a huge headline, but this goddamn hurricane is screwing up their right wing propaganda mission.

Here CNNSlime, I'll help you out:

SADDAM CONFESSES!!

8. Saddam confessed - isn't that convenient.
These guys better watch themselves. Bush won't be able to keep U.S. troops there much longer, unless he has just decided to forget about rebuilding New Orleans. They will be in deep trouble once that happens.

9. Yeah, convenient. This subject will not have to be discussed
in open court. No embarrassing details about US complicity.

Very convenient.

13. So THIS is what "transparency in government" means!
It's completely CLEAR that Bush is pulling this "Hail Mary, Saddam Confessed" outta his moneymaker in order to divert attention from Katrina, which could bury him.

14. Is it possible to make a martyr out of a monster ??
If so, the execution of Saddam will probably do that...if not in Iraq, in most of the rest of the Arab world.
