I'm planning to contribute as much money as I can to his opponent.

9. Maybe they'll put it on the CA ballot again.
In 2000, 60% of CA voters said no to gay marriage in CA. It doesn't seem to be a partisan issue in CA. Most voters in CA are dems, so they voted against it, too.

36. This is a quote from Prop 22
Proposition 22, approved in a public vote in 2000, stated that "only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California". Sorry the the governor is following the voiced will of the people. If you and they do not like it I would suggest a new referendum.

43. Here's a lulu
Computer consultant Pankaj Deshpande, a 30-year-old who lives and works in San Francisco, said that he was raised to believe that "marriage is between a man and a woman."

"I'm against gay marriage," he said, as he strolled the city's Financial District during Wednesday's chilly lunch hour. "It's abnormal. It's not a natural thing."

He was on his way to Folsom street to get a blow job at Folsom Gulch bookstore and video arcade.

Not that I would know about places like that you understand!

Arnie and the rest of the thugs can act like Neanderthals all they want, but our society is becoming more and more accepting of gays (thank goodness) and less willing to discriminate against them. That this bill passed in the Cali. legislature is just a foreshadowing of progress to come.

In a world where everything seems to be getting worse, at least on this front, I'm happy to report that things are getting better (regardless of what Arnie does, really).

31. Well, THIS is interesting...
"The Republican governor had indicated previously that he would veto the bill, saying the debate over same-sex marriage should be decided by voters or the courts."

Or the courts? Or...the...courts...? As in, those "activist judges" so despised by strict constructionist right-wingers? Aren't these the same nincompoops who keep saying issues like equal marriage should be decided by the legislative branch of government, that these "moral" issues are too important to be left to the courts and belong to the elected representatives of the people?

Oh, the not-entirely-unexpected hypocrisy of it all!

Didn't Jesus call for caring for the poor, the sick, the hungry, the disadvantaged? These people have no clue, absolutely no clue.

First Lady Maria Shriver
State Capitol Building
Sacramento, CA 95814
Phone: (916) 445-2841
Fax: (916) 445-4633

Dear Ms. Shriver,

I am disgusted today. I am disgusted at what your husband has done.

Your family has stood for years as champions of civil and equal rights. Your Uncle Ted has always stood by and protected the rights of gays and lesbians not just in his state, but in the entire nation.

How can you stand by as member of the Kennedy family and watch your husband deny the rights of people to marry?

When your husband ran for governor, you tried to convince voters that he was a “different” kind of Republican. Just what is that difference Ms. Shriver? I don’t see any difference from the knife he stabbed in my back than ones from the likes of other homophobes in country.

Will you please tell your Uncle Ted to have a long talk with your husband? He could learn a LOT from a man of real compassion and not one that has to make sure the he still has the support of the bigots in this state.

Next June when gay pride month comes around, tell your husband not to bother signing a proclamation like he did this year. We’ve seen what really thinks about us.

Ronny K. Marshall
