2,000 Postal Workers Missing
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,168773,00.html

(sorry for the faux news link.....)

WASHINGTON — The post office has delivered some 15,000 Social Security checks at collection points in the area affected by Hurricane Katrina (search), officials said Wednesday. But the agency is still trying to locate 2,000 of its workers.

In the affected region, 188 post offices have returned to full service, 189 are providing limited service and 120 are still closed.

(snip)

Many have returned to work. Others, who have been evacuated, are working at post offices in other areas, and some 2,000 have not been heard from.

"That's a concern for us a week into this event," Day said.

1. 2000 postal workers.
Bedrock American citizens. Federal employees. And we can't find them?

Why not, Georgie? Surely there are enough men with guns in NOLA now.

3. Can't wait for Santorum to say they should be fined
Or some other Republican asshat to make a similarly callous statement. It's sick that that is just about the only enjoyment I derive from watching these inept buffoons anymore. But when people are dying in the streets, silver linings are hard to come by.

8. Surely that many couldn't be dead or injured?
You would think they would have checked in with someone. Maybe they have and the information just hasn't got to the parties doing the counting. Still, that is a big number.

10. Holy crap
2000 out of 6000 postal workers in the area missing = 33% of them.

Extrapolating that for the total 5 million people in the area means potentially 1.67 million missing.

13. What was that about the Detention centers in Oklahoma
Someone wrote yesterday about having people so dizzy with fear and confusion that they would go to Utah. With the numbers of children in MK-ULTRA tens of thousands according the the psychiatrist who gave the Greenbaum speech and an estimated 200,000 American children go missing each year and the FBI does not even keep statistics on the number of disappeared American children.

Look up FISA and the 1997 letter from a Congressman about civlian slave labor. In all the confusion, they could get away with it.

Infowars has been warning about the closed military bases being prepared for Concentration Camps and that some are have been used for the past months in Gitmo MK-ULTRA type torture according to some of the workers.

The continuation of the Third Reich brought to you by the bush crime family, it only went underground for several decades. How to fight a Resistance against this horror?

What didn't go right, plays into this mornings DU commentary that Bushco isn't even hiding what it is up to.

29. This is what Alex Jones has talked about for so long.
There are at least 5,000 between Camp Gruber and Falls Creek in Oklahoma. They are told they will lose assistance if they leave. Both places are in the middle of nowhere. They are tagged with color coded bracelets.

I honestly wouldn't believe this unless my friends hadn't just returned from there on Sunday. So many have been separated from family. They are in dorms, no air conditioning. The remarks the Red Cross workers made about the evacuees were disgusting. Hard to believe this is America.

21. It's stories like this and
the one someone noted above of 2000 Marriottworkers missing and of 300 people found dead in just one church makes me think the 10,000 dead that they keep spouting is way lowballing. I'm sure they're trying to suppress how many people died as that would underscore the federal response failures that much more.

22. FAUX news and Rove machine is really pushing the biohazard story.
They don't want people to know the extent of the human toll. I am heartened by the news of international aid. I understand NATO has furnished disaster recovery teams together with Mexico sending seasoned teams to assist with recovery of remains. The world is watching.

It was reported somewhere that 1.5M survivors are in Texas. I think Louisiana had a population around 4.5M. Yes, the numbers are large.

1.5 million democrats from the bluest part of Louisiana would be enough to turn Texas into a blue state.

26. Don't forget the hidden cost ...
The postal workers (I'm presuming they mean postmen/women who deliver
the mail rather than sorters?) would be the very people who'd be able
to "fill in some of the blanks" on missing names.

Whilst it obviously varies from place to place, I've found that in the
poorer areas, the postman is the guy who chats to the "old lady in the
corner house" and the "family at number 24". Our postwoman was always
a source of a morning smile & wave but would also give "little nudges"
along the lines of "have you seen Mrs. X recently?" ... part of what
someone termed "the community glue".

Sad.

27. I was hoping only 10,000 bodies, maybe 20,000 washed out to sea. BUT, ...
...this could mean many more persons actually died.

We think mostly of NOLA, however, so many other areas were even more severely affected. I hate to think my 10-50,000 personal estimate could reach over 100,000 and, unthinkably, one-million.

I don't know the south at all, nor do I estimate for anyone other than myself.
