Iraq not ready for ties with Israel

Iraqi president Jalal Talabani made clear Friday that Iraq is not yet ready to begin a process of recognizing the state of Israel.

In a speech at the Saban Center for Middle East Policy in Washington, Talabani said that his country will not move forward before Israel adopts the Arab League resolutions concerning the Palestinian Israeli conflict.

"We are committed to the decisions taken unanimously by the Arab summit in Beirut. Many Arab states are forming relations with Israel and, if Israel will reach an agreement with the Palestinians, it will facilitate {having relations with Israel}".
