Brown Sent Candid Email to Family (A must read/and/barf)
Edited on Sat Sep-10-05 02:16 PM by doxieone
(snip)

"I don't mind the negative press (well, actually, I do, but I try to ignore it) but it is really wearing out the family," Brown wrote. "No wonder people don't go into public service. This country is devouring itself, the 24-hour news cycle is numbing our ability to think for ourselves," the Rocky Mountain News reported Saturday.

Brown was relieved of his command of the onsite relief efforts Friday amid increasing criticism over the sluggishness of the agency's response and questions over his background.

"It's horrible," said Mary Ann Karns, an Oklahoma lawyer who once worked with Brown in the Edmond, Okla., city government and got the e-mail addressed. "He does not deserve this as a human being."

29. He's taking the hit for Bush. No one will criticize Bush but Bush picked
Brown. Bush is in charge. At least that's what Rove wants you to think when it's time for the "cowboy act." They can't have it both ways. Either Bush is "in charge" and accountable or he is fucking puppet who needs to be removed! My god, they give him "credit" for everything that seems to be working well...so he must also take the blame!

In fact, the more he slimes, the worse it gets for him. Why? Because the slime ain't working any longer.

4. no, he deserves to be lined up with the rest of the criminals
tried, found guilty, imprisoned, possibly executed. i don't give a fuck whether he's nice to his dog, or his family, or his friends. i don't care at all. he wasn't nice to many, many thousands of people who needed his action. that isn't his fault alone, but his share is large enough to warrant a very, very severe punishment.

23. I kind of go along with you enki23...He lied on his Resume...he was
appointed by Liars, Crooks and Theives. That he isn't going to be held accountable for this is shocking enough. But, in "Bush World" shock and outrage are common amongst those of us who tried to live an honest life and felt we got our jobs on merit and not cronyism.

37. I agree
It was unspeakable of him to accept an important job for which he was unqualified. He should have known the position entailed responsibility for caring for people and he was surely aware he was unfit. It seems to me he is now whining pitiably like all the Bush incompetents once they are exposed as the revolting hacks they are. Do I think he deserves all the criticism he has received - as a human being? Hell, yes and far more. But then again, I am yet to be persuaded any of these neo-cons is human in the first place.

38. I agree as well
It's as if these people accept these positions of power assuming there will be no responsibilities to act on. If I were offered a job, any job, that I wasn't qualified for I would turn it down.

Who would take on a job like this knowing they were so unqualified? And more importantly, who would offer this person the job in the first place?

Brown Sent Candid E - Mail to Family
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Filed at 2:34 p.m. ET

DENVER (AP) -- Federal Emergency Management Agency Director Michael Brown sent a candid e-mail to family and friends this week as he was becoming the center of criticism of the handling of the Hurricane Katrina disaster.

''I don't mind the negative press (well, actually, I do, but I try to ignore it) but it is really wearing out the family,'' Brown wrote. ''No wonder people don't go into public service. This country is devouring itself, the 24-hour news cycle is numbing our ability to think for ourselves,'' the Rocky Mountain News reported Saturday.

Brown was relieved of his command of the onsite relief efforts Friday amid increasing criticism over the sluggishness of the agency's response and questions over his background.

The person in charge of an emergency management operation needs to be able to think for himself and work under pressure... neither of which Brown can do.

58. He lay down with thieves and killers
and he thought it was all great fun when he was dispersing millions of taxpayer dollars to Jeb's friends, helping the worst president in US history to get elected. He did exactly what was expected of him.

They hire incompetents, like Bernie Kerrik, and people with zero morals because those are the ones who will follow criminal orders without question.

She thinks 'it's horrible'!! Not the deaths of her fellow citizens, but that poor, imcompetent, and maybe corrupt, Brownie's 'heck of a job letting all those undesirables die' wasn't appreciated by other real human beings?

The elitist, rightwing, heartless, unfeeling snob. They are a species apart from the human race. Maybe there's a planet somewhere to put all of them.

By his own admission, he read a rightwing rag's headline 'N.O. dodged the bullet' and decided his job was done!!! Ordinary people never thought that NO had 'dodged the bullet' ~ just watching television and the first reports which said that 55 people had died in the storm, and that the levees were weak, were having heart attacks that Monday morning. But Mr. Brown read the rag's headline, and did nothing.

However, what his friend may not be able to say is that 'nothing' was exactly what he was hired to do in the event of a hurricane bearing down on the Gulf Coast! And it's awful that she can't say so, or that we humans can't appreciate that 'he was just following orders.'

You know what, Brownie. You could redeem yourself somewhat if you told the truth, now ~ and helped us remove the most dangerous regime this country has ever had!!

63. Greed and karma
I speculate Mr. Brown, with his suspcious past, was eager to take on the political appointment of FEMA head, thinking probably after 9/11 he'd have to take on minor events. Being National FEMA director probably spelled $$$,$$$ and a better way of life for his family.

But as the waters rose over NOLA, he probably realized he was (pardon the pun) over his head in an situation he was not prepared for, nor had the experience of thinking under pressure...after all, how much pressure is there in judging horse shows? Did the NOLA folks not slip enough money under the table to bring FEMA action?

So karma comes back to bite at a greedy person. He should hope the remainder of the hurricane season is uneventful and there will be no terrorist event to speak of through the remainder of the current presidency.

Hope this is a lesson for Mr. Brown...you relationship with the White House got you in this mess. You can't blame any of us for wanting more, or wanting more than you can professionally handle!
