JAGGER SLAMS BLAIR OVER IRAQ

ROLLING STONES rocker SIR MICK JAGGER has continued the political theme of his band's current tour - by attacking British Prime Minister TONY BLAIR's handling of the US-lead war in Iraq.

The singer confesses backing the initial decision to remove SADDAM HUSSEIN from power - but was "shocked" when it was revealed a dossier detailing Hussein's possession of weapons of mass destruction was exaggerated by the British Government.

He says, "At the time of the Iraq invasion, "I was ambivalent; getting rid of Top of Saddam Hussein was a gift for humanity and I thought that there was a coherent plan to put Iraq back on its feet. (But it) shocked me to know that Blair already knew that the weapons of mass destruction were simply an excuse and that there was nothing planned for the day after (the invasion)."

...

He adds, "If we do not take intelligent steps, a part of Iraq will end up becoming an Islamic republic, a puppet of Tehran."

3. Jagger has always been very well-spoken...
when he wasn't camping it up or playing the lout.
Although I understand why you would find it surprising, he has actually always been very forthcoming about his interst in, and views, on geopolitics (far more so than his personal life)
I credit him with being the one to teach me that one can be politically and socially aware AND a hedonist. Thanks, Mick :)

Pick any country where exotic-looking supermodels come from and he's probably dated one.

5. Stones were on Dateline tonight, and Keith didn't mumble.
Other interviews have shown him to actually be well-spoken
and introspective.

But, if he did mumble, he'd do it with soul!

7. Damn, maybe Keef is off the booze!
Not to advocate heroin use or anything, but he was actually very thoughtful and articulate in his responses during his junk years. It wasn't until he became a lush, that the slurring and garbled speech appeared.

11. Jagger has always been a supporter of Labour
Edited on Mon Sep-12-05 08:43 AM by Ishoutandscream2
While at LSE, he contemplated a role in politics. Even after becoming a rock star, he still briefly contemplated running for Parliament.

Jagger is an incredibly intelligent person. I don't know how much weight this will carry, but I know coming from a knighted subject with leftest leanings, this certainly won't help Mr. Blair.

As well as slamming the American people for not
removing Bush from power.

22. Mick studied business at the London School of Economics.
He's interested in more the sex, drugs and rock n roll.

Ah, but then again, Monica's going to the London School of Economics (to get her master's in psychology), too. The school of the famous and infamous?
