Public Rates Media Highly on Katrina

NEW YORK Sixty-five percent of those in a Pew Research Center poll say the media are doing an excellent or good job covering the hurricane disaster in the Gulf.

Eighty-nine percent say television is a main source of news about the disaster, followed by newspapers (35%), the Internet (21%) and radio (17%). The favored network or cable channel is CNN.

1. Even I give the media a thumbs up. Now it's time to reinforce their work
with letters of praise and encouragement!

2. Not sure what this really means. Are there ratings for rovegate,
haliburton payoffs, Iraq, wmd's? without a benchmark, hard to know if this is an approval or not.

3. And the standard 35% Bush can never do any wrong
would probably be the 35% that did not like the media on the NOLA cane.

10. Not necessessarily...
The media is owned by Corporations who benefit from Bush's tax policies,
lack of environmental protections and much more. They have every
reason to keep promoting his agenda for him.

On the other hand, they can't do anything if they don't have the viewers
and the advertisers. So there is hope. I also think there are many
individuals working in the media who are just plain sick of shilling for
the disasterous Bush Administration. I believe we are witnessing a minor
rebellion throughout the media against the owners.

Welcome to DU.
