Aldermen call for withdrawing troops from Iraq
http://www.suntimes.com/output/elect/cst-nws-antiwar13.html

A Chicago City Council that opposed the start of the war in Iraq would go on record in demanding an "orderly and rapid withdrawal'' of U.S. troops under a resolution advanced Monday by a City Council committee.

The resolution notes that Congress already has approved $200 billion in spending to fund military operations and reconstruction in Iraq and that the share paid by Chicago residents "now exceeds $2.1 billion.''

That's a sum that could have paid the annual salaries of 31,147 public school teachers.

2. All cities should pass resolutions.
Chicago could use those 31,147 school teachers. So could New York. A literate society is harder to control/manipulate.
