Poll: Rebuilding New Orleans A Higher Priority For Public Than Tax Cuts...
New Orleans A Higher Priority For Public Than Tax Cuts, Social Security Changes

AP 9/14

WASHINGTON Sep 14, 2005 - Americans say rebuilding New Orleans is more important to them than cutting taxes or changing Social Security, a poll found. Cutting taxes and changing Social Security were both priorities of the Bush administration before the storm.

Almost two-thirds, 63 percent, said rebuilding the city devastated by Hurricane Katrina is more important than changing Social Security, and almost three-fourths, 73 percent, said rebuilding the flooded city is more important to them than cutting taxes, according to a CBS -New York Times poll released Wednesday.

A large majority of Americans, 73 percent, said they think their taxes will increase as a result of Katrina. More than half of those polled said they were willing to pay more taxes to help with Katrina recovery, job training and housing for victims.

10. Not to point out the obvious, but ...
...those tax cuts are for the rich, anyway! I mean, what do these pollsters THINK the public is going to say? - "Gee, rebuilding New Orleans is important, but I hate for it to happen at the expense of those tax cuts for the rich!"

I mean, if this article was worded properly, it would have said:
<snip>
73 percent, said rebuilding the flooded city is more important to them than cutting taxes for the rich, according to a CBS -New York Times poll released Wednesday.

No shit, Sherlocks!

11. Bring our troops home
that will save us money. Stop corruption in government that will us save money. Send Bush back to Texas that will save us money. That should be the Democratic agenda.
