Judge declares Michigan's abortion law unconstitutional
Judge declares Michigan's abortion law unconstitutional
September 14, 2005, 10:11 PM

LANSING, Mich. (AP) -- A federal judge has declared unconstitutional a Michigan law that supporters said would ban a late-term abortion procedure.

In a ruling dated Monday, U.S. District Court Judge Denise Page Hood in Detroit ruled the Legal Birth Definition Act places an "undue burden" on women's right to choose.

Hood said the law is confusing and vague, and its exceptions for the health or life of a mother are meaningless and unconstitutional.

"The act does not describe any specific procedure to be banned," Hood wrote. "The act also does not distinguish between induced abortion and pregnancy loss."

3. What sucks? A womans Right to Choose?
Abortion should not be a political/religious football. The Right to Choose should be a health care issue between a woman and her doctor. You don't like abortions, support birth control and Facts Based Education. No one if forcing any one to have abortions.
You have a problem with people, read Women only, being able to get an abortion, then provide viable alternatives that include child care till 18.

6. Ya know......
I was born the same year of the ruling on Roe v Wade but like, when I was a teen, I saw this " after school special" "lifetime" sort of movie about a girl , and abortion and how the law got passed. All I can say is this.If Roberts wants to be a jerk and overturn it,then the blood af all those teenage girls who will be using coat hangers and joining extreme intense sports, and throwing themselves down stairs, getting drunk and smoking cigarettes to get rid of the baby, and dies will be on his hand's.

8. So, you don't have conjugal sex?

You have to look at the big picture. To ban later term abortion will open the door to ban early term abortions.

9. You seem to lack an understanding of the social aspects of Human Animal.
Anthropology of us humans. We are a social species. We need the touch of others to remain fully functional, mentality healthy. Sex is a normal part of the adult. Sex helps bond ourselves to others, to diminish the barrier between self and other. Having sex with a willing partner is not in its self bad, as some would have us believe. This is where the right wings lack of empathy comes into play. Touch is bad, you have to touch during sex, therefore sex is bad.

11. Late term abortion is NEVER a birth control option.
The most egregious aspect of ignorance-based late term abortion laws passed by these fundie legislatures is that they do not address the life of the mother in most cases. Yet this procedure, properly called "dilation and extraction", is performed in order to save the mother's life.

You may want to educate yourself on the subject before making such snap judgements.
