Nobel Laureates Frown on Science Standards
LAWRENCE, Kan. -- Thirty-eight Nobel Prize laureates asked state educators to reject proposed science standards that treat evolution as a seriously questionable theory, calling it instead the "indispensable" foundation of biology.

The group, led by the writer Elie Wiesel, said it wanted to defend science and combat "efforts by the proponents of so-called intelligent design to politicize scientific inquiry."

The proposed standards, which could come up for final Board of Education approval later this year, are designed to expose students to more criticism of evolution but state in an introduction that they do not endorse intelligent design.
...
Education Board Chairman Steve Abrams, a conservative Republican who has supported the proposed standards, said he was unmoved by the scientists' plea, which became public Thursday.

3. "God said it, I believe it"
questioning authority is a very bad thing to these people.

I mean if the bible was incorrect, who knows what else might be questioned?

If people took this science thing seriously, they might figure out there were no WMDs in Iraq. Can't have that.

4. Belief is very much akin to addiction.
It is highly resistant to counscious cognitive processing and it is powerfully self-reinforcing.

6. Exactly . .
It is addiction to the drug / neurotransmitter dopamine (and some others) that are produced in our blood stream when the ideological mind messages the memes that reinforce its worldview.

These flow into receptors in the brain that are the same ones that are felt during sex, extended exercise, ingesting meth, heroin, etc. - and are of course pleasurable and highly addictive.

5. Will Anybody Listen, Though?
People who truly care about education don't need to be convinced.

People who are into power grabs and mind control will only believe in that part of science that they can exploit for their own purposes.

The trick is to identify the first group, and get them to run for office from school board on up.

Meanwhile, identify the second group and publicly shame, humiliate, and drive them from public life (Prosecute them to the fullest extent of any laws they break, and don't forget treat them for any thinking disorder, personality disorder, or other mental illness).

And then, there's that third group: the confused, ignorant, and apathetic. Teach these people and show them that knowledge is power and facts will be acted upon appropriately.

It's the job of every American citizen, just like paying taxes. It's the price of democracy, liberty, and respect for the nation.
