Aide: Schwarzenegger to Seek Re-Election

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20050916/ap_en_mo/schwarzenegger_re_election

SAN DIEGO - Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger will run for re-election next year, a top aide said Friday.

Schwarzenegger "felt it was very important to let the people of California know this governor plans to be around for the long haul," campaign spokesman Todd Harris said. "It's not a 24-month job, it's a five-year job and he intends to see it through to the end."

The governor had been expected to make the announcement when he speaks to guests at a noon rally here.

The Republican actor-turned-governor, who has hinted as much for weeks, had all but launched a campaign Wednesday, telling supporters, "I'm not in this just for the short term."

14. It will be crystal clear if it will be worth it for him to re-run after
November 8. If everything he's trying to push gets squashed, he's out.

The ad campaigns over the next couple of months are going to get out of hand, no doubt.

3. The article does mention a few
Excerpt:

State Treasurer Phil Angelides and Controller Steve Westly have announced they will seek the Democratic nomination. Two liberal Hollywood luminaries, director Rob Reiner and actor Warren Beatty, also have been mentioned as possible candidates.

I personally think we should stay away from people in the acting field and stick to people with established governmental backgrounds, just so we could avoid charges of our candidates having a lack of experience.

Yeah, California is in too good a shape financially to be completely and irrevocably ruined in just two years. Ah-nuld needs a little more time to loot the place and funnel the state treasury into his wealthy friends' pockets.

24. He whores for pharmaceuticals company what else should we expect?
If the guy was really motivated by other people’s problems without being on the pill company pad I might have been a little less suspicious of his motives but he is just another celebrity pimping himself by trying to hustle the spotlight for his own personal gain. It shouldn't have to take getting cancer yourself to motivate one to become involved and getting paid to do so.

11. How lucky for my battered, beleagured state.
We're already having bake sales for school books - my daughters are sharing text books with their classmates - and they're cutting "enrichment" programs from the curriculum. I'm certain that none of the Governator's friends are suffering from a lack of enrichment, however. Problem is, after electing this feeble fraud, the door is now wide open for something even worse.

His approval ratings have been tanking for quite some time now, haven't they? Somewhere in the 30s?

Good luck, in any case. :hi:

27. His re-election prospects are pretty slim though.
With approval ratings in the 30 percent range or so, and a strong democratic challenger...I really don't see any way, with a fair voting system, how he could win.

30. You should have seen him strutting...
around around on the stage cracking jokes and suggesting that people who didn't vote for him just didn't like his movies. He was in San Diego putting on his performance before his adoring hand-picked audience.

CNN's Leslie Blitzer was really whoring it up today showing lots of Bush, then Arnold, then back to Bush. He had Bay Buchanan and James Carville as guests for discussion of Bushes speech. James was so-so--he didn't really have too much to say--and Bay, as usual, was swooning over Bush. She did say that he didn't look presidential enough because he should have worn a suit and tie---then complained that the backdrop wasn't suitable and he should've given his speech in the oval office.

Leslie was doing his best to prop up president junior and defended the way he dressed.

I remember a couple of days ago when CNN's Blitzer gave about TWO SECONDS to Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid as they were fielding questions from reporters. Blitzer cut them off he said "we'll monitor them." He never got back to them and we didn't get to hear the questions and answers.
