BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - A U.S. Marine was killed in an explosion in the
volatile western province of al-Anbar, the military said Friday.

The Marine, assigned to the 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary
Force, was killed Thursday in an "indirect fire explosion" in Forward
Operating Base Camp Ramadi, Iraq, the military said in a statement.
His identity was not released pending notification of next of kin.

The latest death raises to 1,898 the number of U.S. troops killed since
the beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003, according to an Associated
Press count. At least 1,473 died as a result of hostile action,
according to the military's numbers. The figures include five military civilians.

4. Semper Fi Marine....
This ex-Marine grieves the fact your life was wasted by a group of people not concerned with rooting out evil and liberating nations, but exploiting fear and stealing money. May you Rest in Peace.......

8. At least you people
are paying attention. I fear these deaths are becoming "acceptable" or at least expected for too many Americans. Each death is heartbreaking.
My Marine is flying home from Iraq tonight. He's just finished his second tour and he's on a plane back to the states now.
He's a proud liberal who voted for Kerry.
And he'll be home tomorrow.

9. stanwyck....I'm so very happy for you!
I hope he doesn't have to leave you again! :loveya:

And no, these deaths will NEVER become acceptable to me. I truly hope that Bush & Co. will end up being tried in the Hague as the war criminals they are.

12. I may not always reply but I have not forgotten the troops
I do think much of America is suffering from "war fatigue" -they just don't want to hear about it and, well, it makes me sick.
