Mayor Nagin rented, not bought, in Dallas
Edited on Fri Sep-16-05 03:54 PM by KamaAina
Some of us were wondering why he had bought a house outside New Orleans, and what that might portend for the city's future. Turns out we got burned by (surprise!) inaccurate reporting from the Times-Picayune, or as I used to call it, the "Cat Box Liner".

CORRECTION

Nagin rented Dallas condo: New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin did not purchase a house in Dallas, as was stated incorrectly in Sunday coverage. Instead, he rented a condo for his family and then returned to New Orleans, according to mayoral spokeswoman Sally Forman.

3. Indeed. They're relevant for the first time in history.
Hopefully that gaffe was just a blast from the past, and the New New Orleans will have a newspaper worthy of it. Signs are promising so far, not only for the T-P but the formerly somnolent broadcast media as well, particularly WWL and WDSU.

Now I hear that NBC and CNN will be opening news bureaus in N.O. A major media hub sure would be a nice new business to have, and there's a lot of hidden unsung talent down there...

7. The issue is insignificant
but some people have a strong dislike of Nagin and seize upon anything they think will support their negative views of the mayor.
