ROLL CALL: CHENEY TO HAVE
SURGERY FOR ANUERYSM...

Roll Call's Mary Ann Akers to reveal: 'The vice president is slated to have an elective surgical procedure to treat an aneurysm in the artery behind the right knee that was discovered earlier this year during a routine checkup,' spokesman Steve Schmidt said. 'It is a condition that needs to be addressed so as not to become a problem over time,' said Schmidt, who declined to say at which hospital the surgery
will be performed. Schmidt said the procedure will be performed under local anesthesia and will involve 'a short hospital stay.'

Cheney, 64, had quadruple bypass surgery in 1988 and had a defibrillator
implanted in his chest three years ago. He has suffered four heart attacks.

bleeding in the area it sits. Might be an ominous sign of his overall condition though.

8. Why do I think Cheney's days are numbered?
I think Mr No-Bid Contract might be looking for a reason to step down, ie health reasons. It would be a good move politically to put someone popular like McCain in as VP. Then the VP could run in 08 as an "incumbant" & again 2012.

24. god bless google
<When a section of an artery wall bulges or balloons out, it is called an aneurysm. This occurs because a section of the artery wall has weakened, usually due to a build-up of plaque. Aneurysm ruptures are painful events in which the weakened vessel bursts or tears, causing internal bleeding that can lead to death.

An aortic aneurysm occurs in the body's main artery (aorta) and an abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) occurs in the section of the aorta the runs through the abdomen. A ruptured aortic aneurysm may be called an aortic dissection. When occurring in an artery of the brain, the term cerebral aneurysm (or brain aneurysm) may be used.>

be from an injury. I wonder though since it sounds like he has had serious heart problems starting at a pretty young age for them. Personally I can't imagine him running for president with even his known health problems. I'd bet we don't the the half of them either.

That's the official story, but it doesn't pass my sniff test. It's either not an aneurysm but something else entirely or it is but not located there. They were found out the last time he disappeared into a hospital, even with all their security measures, so this is the disinfomation story.

68. I'm certainly no expert, but
my dad developed an aneurysm in his groin after his first angioplasty. I don't know how many of those procedures Cheney has had, but if you have to go through a new location each time (as with my dad -- first one side of the groin and later, the other side), perhaps they went through the knee and he developed the aneurysm as a side effect.

Or, he's just an evil SOB whose body is rotting from the inside-out.

Cheney to Have Surgery Next Weekend
By DEB RIECHMANN, Associated Press Writer
Fri Sep 16, 8:53 PM

WASHINGTON - Vice President Dick Cheney will undergo an elective surgery next weekend to treat an aneurysm in an artery behind his right knee. The condition, discovered earlier this year during a routine checkup, needs to be treated "as to not become a problem over time," Steve Schmidt, counselor to the vice president, said Friday.

"The procedure will be performed under local anesthetic," Schmidt said. "It will take place next weekend. It will involve a short hospital stay. The vice president will return to work shortly thereafter." Schmidt said more details will be announced next week.

Cheney, 64, has had four heart attacks, though none since he became vice president in 2001. That year, he had an implantable cardioverter defibrillator inserted in his chest. The pacemaker starts automatically if needed to regulate his heartbeat.

An aneurysm is a ballooning weak spot in an artery that, as blood pounds through, can eventually burst if left untreated. Those in the knee, popliteal aneurysms, act a little differently. They're less likely to burst than are aneurysms in other parts of the body. But blood clots can form in the weakened artery that can break off and cause a stroke, or block circulation in the leg.
