Iran Throws Down Gauntlet in Nuclear Row
Iran throws down gauntlet in nuclear row
September 18, 2005 - 6:59AM

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said his country had the inalienable right to produce nuclear fuel and accused the US of violating global nuclear treaties.

In an unyielding speech to the UN General Assembly that sought to turn the tables on Western powers, he offered other countries a role in Iran's uranium enrichment program.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran is prepared to engage in a serious partnership with private and public sectors of other countries in the implementation of uranium enrichment program in Iran," Ahmadinejad said.

He also called for the formation of a UN committee to investigate, among other things, which powers had given Israel the technology to develop nuclear weapons in a speech that threw down a gauntlet to the United States and its chief EU partners on the issue, Britain, France and Germany.

1. Bushco Has Recently Ceded Iran's Right To Nuclear Power
But, is focusing on the enrichment angle now.

2. He knows the truth. The EXXON guys are hyped about Iran's oil lake...
They know about the virtual goldmine under Iran's soil and are really giddy about it. Bolton will spin lies, and claim the nuclear power generators are being used as tools for war.

Its good to see the United Nations standing up for themselves.

3. Does anybody know WHY only certain countries are allowed to have
nuclear weapons? Is it done by treaty? Did Iran sign the treaty? Can Iran revoke their acceptance of a treaty, like boosh did on global warming?

IOW, how come if India, Pakistan, Russia, China, Israel, U.S., Germany, France & Britain can have "the bomb"...how come Iran can't? I mean, the U.S. is the one that keeps saying they're willing to use nukes to bust up Iran's "weapons" program. So, it seems that real threats are coming from the irresponsible U.S. leadership. And the U.S. is the only country that has used nukes in war-time (against Japan).

I wish that NOBODY had nukes. But if SOME countries can have them, who gets to say WHO those countries are?

:kick:

6. Like Bush said in his speech the other day... something to the effect of..
"Countries that kill in cold blood should not be allowed to produce nucular weapons."

He doesn't read. He doesn't watch the news and, apparently, he doesn't look in the mirror.

4. I firmly believe that somebody's going to get a bloody nose
when Iran is attacked. Probably Israel, since it's a fixed target and a primary instigator.

They are ready to put the squeeze on the Bushistas. They sense his particular vulnerability after Katrina. The fact that the have mores are desperately dipping into the strategic reserves of Europe at this point isn't going unnoticed. How long will this prop last? Will it be effective for the duration of a diplomatic showdown involving Russia, India, and China?
