Police warned not to remove women or kids (Belfast blockades)
By Deborah McAleese
newsdesk@belfasttelegraph.co.uk

16 September 2005

POLICE refused to remove women and child protesters blocking roads across Belfast yesterday because of fears of retaliatory loyalist attacks.

Although they moved in to keep some of the city's main routes clear officers refrained from moving child and women protesters in light of intelligence information that loyalist paramilitaries were prepared to attack.

Police chiefs yesterday said they did not want to inflame the situation.

However, they still came under attack in north Belfast last night when 150 rioters hurled petrol bombs, bricks and bottles in the Forthriver Road area. Water cannons were deployed to bring the mob under control. <snip> http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/story.jsp?story=661726

2. Time to apply some pressure to those Orange leaders...
who called people out into the streets. Those bastards are using women and children to bait the PSNI into over reacting so they can benifit politically.

Paisley and Empey should suffer for their actions and lack of leadership. Once again they incite violence and stand back and allow the hardmen to do their dirty work. And speaking of hardmen: Where the fuck is David Ervine and Billy Hutchinson of the PUP? Why don't they help to bring the UVF under control. I thought they said they would not let Paisley and his ilk use the Loyalist paramilitaries anymore.

Oops, I just got a message that Empey is back-peddling and supporting the police now. Fuck me, This shit is so sickening.

I want Ian Kyle Paisley's head on a pike!
