Iraq Suicide Bombers Say Al-Qaida Forced Them
Medical Evidence Indicates Man Telling Truth

BAGHDAD, Iraq -- A suicide bomber captured before he could blow himself up in a Shiite mosque claimed he was kidnapped, beaten and drugged by insurgents who forced him to take on the mission. The U.S. military said its medical tests indicated the man was telling the truth.

Mohammed Ali, who claimed to be Saudi-born and appeared to be in his 20s, said he managed to flee after another suicide attacker set off his bomb, killing at least 12 worshippers Friday as they left a mosque in the northern city of Tuz Khormato.

In confession broadcast on state television later that day, Ali told Iraqi interrogators he did not want to bomb the mosque and hoped to go home.

Results from medical tests on Ali were "consistent with his story and characterization of his treatment," Col. Billy J. Buckner, a U.S. military spokesman said Sunday.

1. Not to sound too nutty
but the thought that immediately occurred to me is, why is the US military all of a sudden being so open and honest about a suspect? Facts like these usually come out months later, not days. I mean, it's not characteristic of them, overall. This feels pre-spun to me. I have no justification for the feeling, and it's impression only, to be sure.

3. I wonder who is this Al-Qaeda group we hear so much about.
Who has a vested interest in keeping Iraq in turmoil...and keeping that oil in the ground? Who has a vested interest in keeping the US in Iraq to act as a lightening rod for Islamic fundie hatred? Who has a vested interest in maintaining a presence in the ME? Who stands to gain in destroying/rebuilding Iraq over and over? Who has friends in the House of Saud and business relationships with the bin Laden family?

8. Yup
Just stands to reason, this ought to be a valid concern, the possible truth to this. But we'll surely never know, unless enough people either start feeling guilty or afraid for themselves. This idea of covert acts to spur on aggression is the stuff massive cover-ups are made of, but to the sane among us, likely it sounds way off. Though who benefits MOST from war? These creeps running our nation, that's who. They profit from any war, anywhere. But it sounds too insane to even contemplate to many, so they don't really contemplate until there's "proof".

I'm looking at all the dead and wondering how much proof would it take. Like, they wouldn't have any soldiers kill civilians NEEDLESSLY, for war and war profiteering, never happen, right? Then there's New Orleans, and I just have no trust at all. It's all so sad.

4. Could just be more "We've got them on the run" business...
...as illustrated by this quote:

The kidnapping demonstrates the desperation of al-Qaida in Iraq leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi and his ability to execute his strategy," said Buckner.

6. What do you think he was going to say?

And, the military tested him and confirmed drugs were in his system big deal.

He might be lying he might not be, it wouldn't suprise me either way.

12. Perhaps he'll turn out to be a member of a prominent Saudi family
and this will be the defense that gets him off the hook.
