Voinovich skeptical about president's fiscal outlook
Budget cuts alone won't pay Katrina bills, senator says

WASHINGTON | Sen. George Voinovich on Monday expressed skepticism about a Bush administration assertion it could offset the costs of the war and Hurricane Katrina through spending cuts elsewhere.

"I don't agree with that at all," he said, saying that while some spending cuts are necessary, other programs remain underfunded.

"There are many things that need to be funded that we haven't funded and have ignored," he said. "And sooner or later you pay for it."

He said the government needs to do a "big picture" assessment about where it can afford to cut funds and where it cannot. He also advised against making Bush's tax cuts permanent.

2. Is he running in 2006?
I think a lot of rethugs running next year will do the same thing.

The Coward is toast.

3. Is he going to cry on the senate floor again, I think it's good to have
....republicans show that their eyes are opening, but Senator Voinovich did that big show over the nomination of John Bolton, then he goes ahead and votes for the bastard. Just watch, he'll go along with raising the debt ceiling by $1 trillion and approve borrowing to pay for the deficits.
