8. Andrew had a grotesque shape before it hit Florida in 1992.

Rita looks like a Katrina clone.

7. I can see Santorum's next speech right now...
Edited on Wed Sep-21-05 01:43 PM by strategery blunder
"Yesterday morning, NWS forecasts called for Hurricane Rita to reach Category 3 strength. However, it is now on the verge of/became (depending on when he makes said speech) a Category 5. This clearly proves that the NWS is incompetent, because it is run by the evil librul government, which conspires to underestimate hurricane intensity, so people don't evacuate, so der Überführer Bush looks bad.

The NWS must be disbanded and sold to the highest bidder!"

Just thinking about it makes me wanna :puke:

It's amazing how bought-off politicians will exploit tragedy.

12. I thought they were supposed to use surface winds for classification?
Edited on Wed Sep-21-05 01:53 PM by strategery blunder
More sensationalism from AccuWeather. Yay!:sarcasm:

Of course, Rita probably will be a Category 5 by the time I finish my lunch. Thank God I don't live in Texas, but I feel sorry for the people that do, members of the Bush cabal notwithstanding.:scared:

13. They estimate surface winds by flight level winds.
It is difficult to get a perfectly accurate measurement.

14. sadly, it looks as if Rita will devastate a region like Katrina did...
I hope the entire coast of Texas and Louisiana are preparing for this storm. It doesn't look good. Prayers are with every living creature in the path of this storm.:grouphug:
