Bush says US has solemn duty to defeat terrorists

WASHINGTON, Sept. 21 (Xinhuanet) -- US President George W. Bush said on Wednesday that the United States has a solemn duty to stayon the offensive in Iraq to defeat the terrorists there and lay the foundation of peace in the country.

"We have a solemn duty to stay on the offense against these people, to defeat them in other lands so we don't have to face them here at home. And we have a solemn duty to lay the foundation of peace for generations to come," Bush said in a speech at the 20th anniversary of the Republican Jewish Coalition.

Bush said that Iraq has become the central battlefront in the war on terror, although it is not the only place that the United States is fighting the terrorists.

Bush made the remarks as new polls showed that a majority of Americans disapprove the policy of the Bush administration in Iraq.

Same old shit with the words mixed up a little.

F-off.

At least the jerkoff learned how to pronounce a new word- solemn.

control the White House, the Congress, and the Supreme Court! Nope, better fight them here.

5. Bush has solemn, sworn duty to uphold and defend the Constitution
He's the one who has the duty, and as usual he's trying to pass it off on anyone who'll listen. It's Congress's duty to impeach him. He's a disgrace.

6. True...we have to deal with that which we create
and since we've perfected making them...I suppose we have some responsibility in fixing the mess.

Bush, of course...is not the person to lead that effort. (or the person to do anything else for that matter...he's not qualified to be a garden gnome.)

8. Odd that all the Bush supporters
are not taking this "solemn duty" to heart by enlisting or urging their children to enlist.
Apparently the Bush twins, and Jeb's kids, don't believe in this "solemn duty", either.
Until the Bushies actually sign up and put their lives behind this "solemn duty", it's really hard to take their nationalistic rumblings seriously.
It's just more blah-blah-blah jingoistic blather.
Rush, O'Reilly, Hannity, Boortz, Republican warhawks...show us the solemn duty with something a little more substantial than your bombast.

9. That posturing fascist fuck wouldn't know a "solemn duty" if it gave him .
... a lap dance. He reaches new lows of hypocrisy and corruption with every passing day. One thing's for sure: he doesn't have a tapeworm. Even a tapeworm would be embarrassed to be associated with him. They'd better cremate him when he dies; no self-respecting maggot would have anything to do with him.

28. beg to differ. Tearing off the label and sealing wax, deciding one cube or
two. Making sure Lump in My Bed ain't around while he tests the middle of the bottle to make sure the bourbon taste is consistent with the top.

I am sure that is a solemn duty for him today.

I expected the 101st and 82nd Airborne to seal off the border; with the 10th Mountain Division et al to go through the mountains till we found the Al Qaeda assholes.

What we got from Bu$h was a JOKE of a military operation with hired WARLORDS to find the people who planned the attack on NYC.

But Bush is tough on terror. Only a dumbass can possibly believe this.

Tis absolutely amazing how fast and quietly the U.S. moved their air bases from Saudi Arabia after 911.

14. Well, our next chance comes in a little over a year:
November 2006. That is, if the terrorists let us vote and then count the votes honestly. Hey, sure we have the duty to defeat the terrorists, but will we have the means, since the terrorists control so much of the US electoral mechansisms?

I mean, my God, give it up already. IRAQ IS A LOST FUCKING CAUSE. If your irresponsible ass didn't think Katrina crippled the economy then wait till Rita makes landfall.
But let me guess, social security will need to be abolished to re-build America and we need more tax cuts.

We tie Smirk up and drop him off somewhere, say out in the desert in Iraq. Then we put the coordinates of where he is on the Internet. We wait a few hours. Then we bomb the crap out of the area.

Sorta like Rummy's roach trap idea, only mine will work.

29. Yeah, yeah, just like we had a "solemn duty" to defeat communism...
...which became the primary basis for decisions in foreign and domestic policies as well as planning the federal budget from post-WWII to 1989, the year the Berlin Wall fell. Realizing there was no "boogieman" for the military-industrial complex, big oil, and the Bush Family to make $$$$$ by instilling fear into Mainstream America, "terrorism" was exploited and the first WTC attack in 1993 ushered in the terrorist version of the Domino Principle. From fighting Communism in SE Asia to fighting Terrorism in the MidEast, somebody's always gotta be making bucks...

defeat them there crap isn't playing well anymore Shrub. You need a new line if you're going to change those opinion poll numbers.

Heh, just noticed it's now defeat them over there instead of fight, and in other lands (beyond the ME?)

Guess that change from fight to defeat gets him in the clear when there's another attack here at home. :eyes:

33. Defeat terrorism is to Bush as...
as a chicken in every pot is to Herbert Hoover. It is the same thing, Hoover promised a chicken in every pot during the depression, and never delivered, same with defeat terrorism. Hoover never did anything to fix the problem, just a lot of talk, same with Bush and defeating terrorism. Both have maintained huge tax cuts for the wealthy though.
