British scientist criticises US climate "loonies"

LONDON, Sept 23 (Reuters) - A leading British scientist said on Friday the growing ferocity of hurricanes hitting the United States was very probably caused by global warming and criticised what he termed U.S. climate loonies over the issue.

Sir John Lawton, chairman of the Royal Commission on Environmental Pollution which advises the government, made what the Independent newspaper said was a thinly disguised attack on the stance of U.S. President George W. Bush's administration.

"The increased intensity of these kinds of extreme storms is very likely to be due to global warming," Lawton told the newspaper in an interview.

"If this makes the climate loonies in the States realise we've got a problem, some good will come out of a truly awful situation," said Lawton.

1. Sadly, those 'loonies' will cling to their own twisted opinions
come hell or high water.

2. Yes, but unfortunately
THEY won't be the ones stuck in the "hell and high water"; us poor regular "little people" will have that honor.

All these years we've been trying to tell them this, and now millions of people will have to pay in some form or another, many with their very lives.

3. Our loonies are equivalent to Nazi loonies
Only kinder and gentler (for now).

In other words, they do what The Party says, when it says, and not before.

And since the Bushevik Party won't tell them to think it...no amount of reality or evidence will make them budge.

4. W, the corporatist world king, will ignore the issue
After all, he and Condi are searching for a balance between the economy and environmental concerns. He says one shouldn't be sacrificed for the other - but he's sacrificing both and not yet smart enough or humble enough to realize it.

5. Scientist don't run the country.
They just build the weapons and do what politicians tell them to do. Want a grant? To bad. Only RWreligofreaks get respect by the BFEE. It helps accelerate the chaos and killing. They don't even want to fund NASA, it all goes to Iraq.

7. They don't realize that this country is run by religious freaks with
bible in their hands. If God created the world in seven days, then what is the problem? He can easily fix it up again if he wants to. But since there so many gays and liberals, and not enough Pat Robertsons, Jerry Falwells, or Tammy Faye Bakers to worship him then
he will just probably let it go.
