Hinchey: Bush choice of FDA chief 'bizarre'

...

Maurice Hinchey -- an Ulster County Democrat -- is criticizing the president's decision to name Nicholas von Eschenbach to serve as acting F-D-A chief after the sudden resignation of commissioner Lester Crawford.

Hinchey told a Binghamton radio station (W-N-B-F) this afternoon that -- in his words -- "it's a bizarre appointment. It doesn't make any sense."

The congressman noted von Eschenbach plans to continue in his current job as director of the National Cancer Institute while overseeing the federal agency.

Hinchey said that would pose a "very serious conflict of interest" because the institute seeks the F-D-A's approval for new cancer drugs.

2. Crawford resigned? Geez. He had only been there a short time.

Crawford is a Republican shill and second-rate pharmacist.

Edit: How can this new guy hold two positions at the same time?

5. What really is "bizarre"
is that such minuscule things appear "bizarre" when the whole entire life of this administration has been in excess of "bizarre" for over 5 years now.

8. You know, it's like government by Laurie Anderson
Some weird, surreal performance art from which you can't quite look away because it's so damned bizarre.
