White House stands behind indicted DeLay

http://news.webindia123.com/news/showdetails.asp?id=124263&cat=World

White House stands behind indicted DeLay

The White House is standing behind Rep. Tom DeLay, R-Texas, who was indicted for violating Texas campaign finance law.

White House spokesman Scott McClellan said President George Bush was resting his faith in the judicial system.

The president considers him a good ally and a friend who we have worked with very closely to get things done for the American people, McClellan said.

...

DeLay is the first House majority leader indicted since the post was created in 1899.

some hypocritical major league baseball player? Paloma? or something like that who said, "I never used Steroids!" but popped positive for some POTENT stuff that can't be acquired OTC?

Too funny: Dubya said, "I believe him!"

These folks (Republican Neo-Cons)do seemingly live within their own manufactured reality. Why not when the media is willing to play along and re-write recent history?

3. The guy has the power of the pardon. He knows he can prevent his
friend Tommy from ever having to do a day's time.

That's what'll happen. Or someone will change their testimony after a phone call from an unidentified source, or something.

That he was even indicted is a miracle. And it made my day yesterday.

9. Stephanopolous even used the term "no daylight between them"
on GMA this morning. "The White House supports Tom DeLay 100%." I was surprised that Charlie then mentioned that the leadership of the Senate was also being investigated and then George tossed back the reminder that Rove and WH are also under investigation. I usually can't make it through more than the first few minutes of GMA.

15. Bush is a dumbshit.
He thinks having a united front is a show of strength, but where in this case, it identifies his weakness. This is why he sucks as a war time president. Those he has chosen to invade know he's a one trick pony.

He doesn't have a clue. He's nothing more than a frat boy with dinosaurs for advisers.

As for Rove, he has no true power. For all his deception and subterfuge, all Rove's accomplished, at best, is maintain the status quo. It's already beyond them, and they're left with only their lies to deceive them from their miserable failures.

Now they're forced to become more ruthless and expose themselves further.

18. Great News!!!
Stand behind the slimeball all the way. Stand there for AGES. Talk about it as much as possible! I want to hear Georgie and Scotty mounting a spirited defense of him - I want their arms wrapped around the guy's shoulders in solidarity. I want THAT image in front of America as often as possible, right up until DeLay is tried and convicted (or the midterms, whichever comes first!).

Heck - if they really want to go down with his sinking ship, and have Americans thinking they're like blood-brothers they're so similar, I wouldn't be the one to try to discourage them!

'Course if they want to publicly dump his butt to save themselves, only to be faced with needing to do the same with Frist, then Rover-boy, then, then, then - well, that'd be ok with me too!

77. Nope. This is the way this White House distances itself.
"Standing by" DeLay would have involved protestations of his innocence. There was none of that; they've just chosen not to try to deny that DeLay was a powerful ally/lackey.

I also get a whiff of "whatever DeLay did has nothing to do with our agenda."
