U.S, Afghan soldiers killed in southern attack

KABUL, Oct 1 (Reuters) - A U.S. soldier and an Afghan soldier have
been killed in a militant attack in the southern province of Kandahar,
the U.S military said on Saturday.

One U.S. soldier and two Afghan army soldiers were also wounded in the
small arms and rocket-propelled grenade attack on Friday, a military
statement said.

The U.S. death brought to eight the number of U.S. personnel killed in
Afghanistan since Taliban and allied militants failed to derail landmark
parliamentary elections held on Sept. 18.
