Bush Preparing for Greenspan Successor
WASHINGTON - Now that he's tackled the Supreme Court openings, President Bush is preparing for another high-profile nomination: a successor to Alan Greenspan, whose 18-year run at the Federal Reserve comes to an end in just over three months.

Often referred to as the second-most powerful person in the United States, Greenspan's last day is expected to be Jan. 31.

Speaking at a wide-ranging news conference on Tuesday, Bush touched briefly on the White House's efforts to select a new Fed chairman. He called the process to find Greenspan's replacement "ongoing."

"There is a group of people inside the White House ... who will bring forth nominees," Bush said.

Two questions - 1. Who is in charge of the search committee? 2. Who the closest insider incompetent crony that he could appoint?

5. can't wait for a fed chair who looks to the bible for interest rate advice
or who uses monetary policy to bring on the rapture.

not that there's anything wrong with religious beliefs themselves, just imposing the more destructive of them on the rest of us.

Why was this clown (*) appointed/anointed at a pivotal moment in history? He could ruin this country long after he is gone with 2 court apts and a fed chairman apt. Just put KKKarl Rove in charge and we can kiss the world goodbye.:nuke:

17. Whoever gets the job
can look forward to a deep depression and the dollar turning into confetti.

This will be the second time the fed has caused a depression. Maybe socialism will get a hard look when people are standing in a soup line.

Actually, although Bu$h has been a disaster for our country, maybe this will be an end of all the talk about how 'great' the workhorse competition is in lifting everyone. Maybe we can then move on to a better system, a more people friendly economic system.

Chairman Neil. Has a rather nice ring to it.
