Farrakhan Plans Action Against Bill Bennett
Nation of Islam chief Louis Farrakhan will announce plans tomorrow to take action against radio host Bill Bennett for his comments last week suggesting the crime rate would decline if the black abortion rate went up.

In a statement released Tuesday by Farrakhan's "Millions More Movement," the group says it will use a press conference on Wednesday to "issue a response to the racist comments of former Secretary of Education William Bennett who proposed genocide, or 'aborting all Black Babies,' as a remedy to America's crime problem."

"Specific action will be announced to deal with William Bennett and his financial sponsors," the statement warned.

2. oh no no no no noo....please no Farrakhan
We got Bennett were we want him. He dug his grave and he keeps falling in it. Don't mess it up with you associating yourself with the anti-Bennett campaign. Media pundits will have a field day talking about the hypocrisy of an anti-Semite condemning ANYONE of racism.

Please, stay inside the Nation of Islam and be quiet. We all know your folks killed Malcolm X, and we don't like your organization, nor what you have said in the past.

3. I'll wait to hear what is said

Hopefully he will address the issue in a positive way.

If he gives the Black community the names of some companies that they can boycott, I am not oppose to that.

I'll wait and see.

IMO,Bennett intents to start a national war against Blacks and this is the result. He is the Sentinel for the NeoCoKKK.

Here we have a Black Leader, with a huge following, that will stand up and say what he feels.

27. Racist vs. Racist
It's hard to conjure up much to say about Farrakhan that isn't derisive, but when squaring off against a true asshole sanctimonious closet white-supremacist like Slot-boy, somehow the words flow like water. If forced to choose between which of the two is less of a tyrannical prick, I'd probably chew on a bean pie--if one could be obtained by a whitie like me--and reluctantly side with Farrakhan.

Bennett is deeply evil. Farrakhan is too, but I tend to side with the downtrodden.

Bennett is the embodiment of selfish Christianity, and Farrakhan is the embodiment of righteous Islam; cut from the same cloth, each will be outraged at the other's assumption of superiority. I'll hold their jackets as you go at it; maybe we'll finally see the truth of their bigotries.

5. It'll be interesting to hear what he plans.
Farrakan tends to be an effective person. His plans are often creative, and he often pulls them off. And he has a strong, well-financed following. I'll bet Bennett will be a bit nervous until he hears what's up.

Maybe Farrakan will find a way to block Bennett's entry into Las Vegas....

And to be fair, Bennett, the sorry SOB that he is, didn't propose any such thing. Looks like the battle of the idiots is on.

What he said was horrible, but it wasn't a proposal of any sort. Listen more carefully.

8. Hopefully Farrakhan can get that big mouth bigot off the air
We need to get rid of all these CON-servatives who have the air waves tied up with their hatred and poison spew.

Our country would be so much better off if CON-servatives would just STFU. None of them can't speak without stuffing their foot in their mouths.

19. Recall Brother Malcolm

People said that he was so mean and evil.
If it were not for Malcolm, MLK would have taken a much longer time to achieve his goals.

Some people ,like Bennett and Rush, only understand one thing ---someone that gets in their face and bullies back.

Bennett better back off and say sorry!

15. Although I think it is important to hold Bill Bennett accountable for his
remarks, and he should be fired immediately from his radio gig, I think Farrakan should first emphasize and focus his efforts on the ongoing cover-up of the amount of people dead (or missing and feared dead) after Katrina. The Bush administration and FEMA are doing their level best to make sure no one ever knows the true dead count in that area. They have even officially given up searching for bodies in the 9th ward. Farrakan could organize an effort to attempt to find out just how many people are still missing and what exactly happened to them. Bill Bennett is small potatoes compared to this scandal and tragedy. I'm glad the Times Picyune is going back to the area, perhaps they will follow up on this story as well.

17. but Bennett is just another dumbass with a big mouth...
Edited on Tue Oct-04-05 02:15 PM by NorthernSpy
It's not that we shouldn't object to what Bennett said: we should. But lets remember that there's a desperate need for action on behalf of the people who have been pushed out of their homes in New Orleans and the Gulf Coast. Compared to that, Bennett's assholish remarks don't amount to all that much.

Perhaps Farrakhan would rather confront Bennett because doing that is more gratifying to his own ego than defending the wellbeing and human rights of the displaced would be. This confrontation will be an event with lots of media coverage, while helping the displaced promises to be a long, difficult process offering little opportunity for basking in the spotlight.

What does all this say about Farrakhan's priorities, I wonder...

there's a desperate need to get the right wing extremism off the airwaves too.

22. There would be less racism...
....if there were no double-standard. While I agree Bennett was out of line (although unintentionally), Farrakhan has said far worse things. The white guys get fired, the black guys get hailed as realists. No black person ever get fired for saying something racist.

How is that helpful?

Eliminate racism -everywhere.

24. double standard, chuckle
yeah, it's so unfair how black people get all the sympathy for having their ancestors in chains and bondage....what about all the white people whose ancestors got whipped on a Virginia plantation? Er, ah...

"No black person ever (got) fired for saying something racist"...that's a pretty broad statement, eh? In the whole history of these United States, not one black person EVER got fired for racist comments? I can think of one right off the bat - Amiri Baraka, poet laurete of New Jersey who was summarily removed from that position when he wrote a poem in the wake of 9/11 that claimed the Israelis were behind the attacks.
