Sen. Nelson: Americans fed up with GOP

Associated Press

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The nation has become fed up with Republican leadership and the United States can still free itself of foreign oil in 10 years if it focuses on alternative fuel like ethanol, Sen. Bill Nelson said Tuesday.

In a wide ranging interview with reporters, Nelson, D-Fla., cited Republicans' intervention in the Terri Schiavo case, the skyrocketing federal budget deficits and the war in Iraq as reasons why public opinion is turning against the GOP.

"It started with Terri Schiavo," Nelson said. "I think what you're seeing is a reaction - that people are saying I have enough of this intolerance and trying to cram their agenda down the people's throats. People are getting tired of that.

....

"I can't tell you how many Republicans have come up to me and said 'I am off the reservation because of the fiscal policies of this administration, spending so much money like a drunken sailor,'" Nelson said. "All of these things are coming home to roost."

This was in the Guardian too!

It's about time somebody articulated what we are all feeling. Don't always agree with Senator Nelson, but he is fighting tooth and nail against offshore drilling in Florida and now is getting VERY vocal about these criminals.

It's great to see!

their names very often came up together in votes and news stories.

25. Better Bill Nelson than Ben Nelson...
Ben Nelson is one "democrat" we need to replace with a real Democrat. If we win the senate by one vote, that turd will switch parties to give it back to the repigs.

35. I don't think
So, if Ben Nelson really was a Republican like many of you say he is why wouldn't he just switch. I'll tell you what it saves him a lot of grief. The only reason Ben is considered even slightly beatable in his upcoming race is because of the D next to his name. If he switched parties he would be as safe as Orrin Hatch. I think Ben Nelson is just a very, very conservative Democrat. Same thing with Chaffee. If he became a Dem he'd be re-elected with 65% or more in his upcoming Senate race.

19. Ignorance alert
It's always impressive to me just how dumb (or perhaps dishonest) some politicians are.

By 2015, the price of fuel will have skyrocketed and- while there is sure to be more alternative fuels available (simply due economics) the bottom line is that a lot of communities- especially in this fool Senator's home state- are going to be wishing that they'd invested in public transportation and done some sensible land use planning A LONG TIME AGO.

I expect delusions and foolishness from Republicans, but when it comes from Dems- even DINO's (who should know better), I find it somewhat distressing.

15. It's a step in the right direction- but Mr. Nelson needs giant steps
if he wants to retain any level of confidence in Democratic Floridians. I know I speak for many who are pretty disgusted with him and his weak and spineless decisions or lack of decisions thus far. He rarely says much of anything concrete, stands up for very little and frankly, is a huge disappointment. Maybe now that it's becoming popular to be against the GOP he's finding his courage. After doing NOTHING about the 2004 election- not even a whimper- he has a long way to go to cstch up.

It's time for you to come home to roost Senator Nelson and start speaking for the people who elected you and take action against the monsters currently running this country. Enough is enough.

Would you rather have Katherine Harris?

The evil she-demon succubus who stole our democracy?

Even a blah Dem like Nelson looks GOLDEN next to her.

26. A set of...
After the MSM reported that people with the same names as some of the
alleged 9/11 hijackers had trained at US air bases, Sen. Nelson asked
the FBI to look into it.

According to Nafeez Ahmed, the FBI ultimately told him that the issue
was complex, and they could neither confirm nor disprove that the
Mohammed Atta that trained the the US military was the same as the
Mohammed Atta who was allegedly a 9/11 hijacker.

And if we do get our government back, let's get them.

Clinton's biggest mistake was not going after the BFEE for the October Surprise when Bush the first traitorously sold us out to Iranian terrorists.

No more secrets, backroom deals, fake investigations and closed hearings! We wouldn't be in this mess today if so much in the past hadn't been whitewashed.
