U.S. House backs Katrina aid, cuts impotence drugs

WASHINGTON, Oct 6 (Reuters) - The U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday approved $500 million in aid to Hurricane Katrina victims, financed by stopping federal payments for impotence drugs.

The House voted to free up the $500 million to help Katrina-affected Gulf states pay unemployment benefits to storm victims.

The bill also helps pay for some health care programs for poor elderly people or for people getting off welfare. And it extends an abstinence sex education program through the end of this year.

The cost would be offset by blocking the federal government from paying for erectile dysfunction drugs through Medicaid and Medicare, health programs for the poor and the elderly. That move would save an estimated $600 million over five years.

4. There's always a catch
It's a shame those retards in the House want to extend the federal funding for abstinence sex education programs in public schools. If anything, I think this program increases the teen pregnancy rate.

6. You know things are bad when the GOP is willing to give up it's manhood
for a bunch of minority poor. I'm not saying that their collective conscience came to a realization that other people's needs supercede their carnal desires. Far from it. But, when the GOP decision makers instruct the sheep to give up the sacred boner for their fellow man, it's bad, son. It's bad. We be in serious trouble. :scared:
