Four Marines die in Iraq bomb attack, U.S. says

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Four U.S. Marines were killed in a roadside bomb explosion during combat operations in Gharma near Falluja, the military said on Friday.

A military statement said the deaths occurred on Thursday but gave no further details. It said names were being withheld pending notification of the families.

Falluja, about 50 km (30 miles) west of Baghdad, is a stronghold of Sunni Arab opposition to U.S. occupation and the Shi'ite-led government.
