Rolling Stones Show in Virginia Interrupted by Bomb Threat to Stage Area, Officials Say

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. Oct 7, 2005 — A Rolling Stones concert at the University of Virginia was halted after 911 operators received a bomb threat specifically targeting the stage area, university officials said.

A 45-minute police sweep of the area Thursday found nothing unusual, and the band completed the show without further incident, university spokeswoman Carol Wood said.

The interruption came about eight songs into the show at the 61,000-seat Scott Stadium. Mick Jagger announced to the audience that authorities had told the band to take a 10-minute break, and the musicians immediately left the stage area. The first 20 rows of fans were also cleared, and three bomb-sniffing dogs, already on site, searched the area.

2. Yeah I wonder
I missed the local news this morning but they probably wouldn't mention it anyway. Out of sight out of mind you know.

8. Very, very sad about that girl, but apparently they are looking
at someone different than who I thought. Some kid named Justin?

I thought for sure it was that photographer...but I really haven't been following the story all that closely. It gave me the willies big time, because I have a 15year old daughter.

11. From the little that I have seen
it appears that she was either very trusting or made friends VERY fast. I suspect that some sort of internet communication was involved because they seemed to be friends real fast like (over the first weekend visit)...but then NOVA isn't that far away....

I wonder if we will ever find out what happened.

Yes it is scary anyway you look at it.

13. She had a Myspace page, which apparently is where this guy
found her. I told my daughter not to put any private information on it at all, and used this kid as an example.

Pretty scary stuff. This stuff used to get to me anyway, but now that I have kids, it affects me on a completely different level.

The URL was easily legible on one of this morning's network TV infortainment shows. The site is still active, and people are leaving messages on it.

I can post the URL, pending the approval of the moderators.

16. Yes Taylor Behl
Not exactly blonde and not exactly the kind of missing blonde story the press likes (this one either wasn't so innocent ;-) OR she can't be portrayed that way -more likely- OR she was too free to have the light turned on her-others might think it is okay)

Just one month after her disappearance, police confirm that 17-year-old Taylor Behl is dead.

Police tell us a positive identification was made Thursday morning through dental records and Taylor's family was notified. Investigators finished processing the crime scene at Mathew's County Thursday afternoon.

17. In front of the grassy hill.
It was very impressive. They set up some of the pyrotechnics on the top of hill behind the stage.

21. Bush approval hits 39%
Edited on Fri Oct-07-05 03:00 PM by jamesinca
He has people going on record saying that his Iraq conflict is a holy war.

Tom DeLay has been indicted.

Karl and Scooter may very well be indicted in the next 2-3 weeks.

His approval rating is 39%.

His best polling number: Strong on national security is taking a hit.

He just gave a speech about 10 plots being foiled, 3 in the US.

Bill Frist is leaving the Senate in '06 voluntarily and Rick Santorum, according to the latest Quinnapac poll is down by 18% and, will be leaving involuntarily.

He got his ass handed to him by Katrina.

He got his ass handed to him by Cindy.

His approval rating is at 39%.

Karen Hughes made a fool of herself in the Middle East by stating the Constitution says one nation under God. Let us not forget that people are going on record saying Bush was told by God that he needed to invade Iraq.

Did I mention his approval rating is back at 39%?

Katherine Harris can't seem to fund raise against Bill Nelson, this coincides with the DeLay money machine being shut down temporarily.

Republicans are turning on him because of his latest nomination to the SCOTUS.

Some guy from the Philippines was in Dick Chenneys office using the computer. Did I mention that his tough on national security numbers have taken a hit lately?

So what is he supposed to do? Call a bomb threat and buy a little time.
