Aid arrives as death toll nears 40,000
quote....
Aid began to flood into Pakistan yesterday as the death toll from the weekend's earthquake continued to spiral and anger over the slow pace of the recovery effort boiled over in remote parts of Kashmir, which have been without supplies for days.
Consignments of food, medical supplies, tents and sniffer dogs were landed in Islamabad as the authorities struggled to get relief to devastated areas. Key highways have been blocked by landslides and many communities have been without water and electricity for days.

end quote....

An large part of a generation is gone with so many schools destroyed with kids inside. OMG, this is beyond anything I have ever seen.

1. No, the tsunami still tops it. How soon we forget.
But devastation is a horror no matter where. And the faces have the same expression: tomorrow is gone just like yesterday.

But worst for me was when they said five children were still alive in the rubble and they were trying to reach them.

Please reach them.

2. When the numbers go so high
there is little difference b/t 150,000 and 40,000 ++. It is all happening so close together, it's hard to catch your breath. I'm not religious, but I still think God is mad at all mankind. They knew for decades this would happen again, but WHY is it all happening NOW? The Paks and Indians hate each other but are coming to each others aid now......WHY does it take a tragedy of this magnitude to show some humanity?

3. Because this is when we are stripped down
To the essential decisions that made us human, and civilized: we help each other survive the land.

This is what BushCo forgot.

4. Remember the movie "Independence Day"?
It is the only thing that will save us now is an invasion of a another planet or a natural disaster effecting the entire planet. It has become us against them.....the problem is I have no idea who 'us' is or 'them' is!
