JetBlue announces daily Boston-NYC shuttle

Tuesday October 11, 11:05 am ET

JetBlue Airways Corp. said Tuesday it will begin daily shuttle service between Boston Logan International Airport and its home-base of New York's JFK International Airport.

The discount airliner said it will use new 100-seat jets for 10 daily fights to provide an air shuttle service long-established by competitors.

JetBlue reported an introductory fare of $25 each way, and will later raise the price to approximately $40 and $120 each way. Prices do not include taxes and fees.

2. Jetblue is also BLUE!
*dances*

We fly Jetblue red-eye often from Denver to New York and back.

Cost? $99 each way.

What you get? Free DirecTV, free food (much better choices than bland airline food), free drinks, more leg room (No first class allowed!)

6. JetBlue started serving Burbank last May
this was reported in the local newspapers:

5/24/05

BURBANK -- Bob Hope Airport gets a makeover of sorts today as jetBlue Airways initiates no-stop service between the the San Fernando Valley and New York, giving transcontinental travelers an alternative to congested Los Angeles International Airport.

The low-cost carrier, which offers leather seats and Direct TV, starts service with three daily flights each way between Burbank and John F. Kennedy International Airport with a fourth starting July 15.

10. I was thinking that myself.
By the time one adds the time spent getting to the airport, getting checked in, gettting through security, getting on board, waiting on the runway, etc... the train might be faster, no?

12. It always is easier, and can be faster. Especially in dodgy weather...
When I come to power, it will be illegal to fly between NYC and Boston and NYC and Washington.

And take the overnight train to Chicago - it's great!

Take the plane to: LA, London, Moscow, Paris...

13. I always train between Portland and Seattle.
It might take me a half-hour longer than driving, depending on traffic, but I can enjoy the scenery and take in a few hundred pages of reading. And, yeah, it would take me just as long to fly, plus I'd have to cab into Seattle from SeaTac.

Trains make so much sense in the northeast. I don't know why we haven't invested in high-speed train infrastructure there. It just doesn't make sense not to, in my opinion.

14. It's kind of too crowded for high speed track.
They'd have to build a ton of over and under passes.

As you know, the current rail system can go over 100mph in rural straightaways. The limit is not the engines, but the track. But you know all that.

Amtrak got rid of the sleeper service between Wash DC and Boston. Barbarism!

I'll bet that's a beautiful ride you've got there!
