Ricketts raises big bucks from outsiders

Pete Ricketts, the Omaha businessman who is running for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate, raised about $50,000 a week in the first seven weeks of his campaign.
In all, Ricketts raised about $372,000.
David Kramer, another Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, raised $171,000 in the first three months of his campaign.
The candidates on Tuesday released their preliminary campaign finance disclosure reports for the months of July, August and September. They plan to file final reports with the Federal Election Commission on Friday.
The third GOP candidate for U.S. Senate, Don Stenberg, had not finished compiling his finance reports. He planned to release his report later this week, said Dan Parsons, Stenberg's spokesman.
